What is the light on top of the MGC GTS race car for? Ken williamson's MGC GTS.

To make the car's appearance distinctive at night - even distinctive from its teammate! - particularly for the benefit of its pit crew during endurance races.
1971 MGB GT V8
Buick 215 w/ Rover heads, custom EFI & crank-fired ignition.
Custom front and rear coilover suspensions.
