ARP Main Studs

I have two sets of ARP main studs for a 3.5.  Does anyone know if these studs will work with a 4.6?

I don't know for sure if they would work but the main caps are different with crossbolts. Really not necessary. I would use shims for the crossbolts after the mains are torqued first.

Yes, I have fitted ARP main bearing studs to a 4.6 block. Watch out the torque setting though. ARP recommended setting is pretty excessive. The crank in my block was locked solid before the ARP value was reached. If you use them I recommend that you check the bearing bores, you may need to line hone the main bearing bores.

X2 with what minorv8 stated. I have them in my supercharged 215 and my machine shop highly recommended line honing when installing main studs, due to the increased clamping load.
It's not a bad idea to hone the rods also if you are using ARP rod bolts, as this will give you more consistent bearing clearances.

Definitely agree with Bill on ARP studs for the 215/3.5. The original poster was wondering if the ARP studs for the 215 would fit the later crossbolt block or if they were different.

124-5401 is for teh Buick 215.  ARP web site shows 157-5401 for the 4.0 & 4.6   The kit comes with the main studs & the side bolts.
