undrhood temperatures

hi guys,
some feedback sought,now i have my pro flo 4 efi installed it allows me to see intake air temperature, on a 75 degree day last weel i noticed that while idling in traffic my intake temp was 170 degrees, i have ceramic coated headers and they are through fender see my HIWD pics also have hood scoop any ideas how to lower these temps? oh its a 347 now seemed better when it was a 302
on cooler days it seems to stay much cooler

Ivor cruise iat appears to be a few degrees higher than ambient on any given day,which i think means the holes in the inner wings do fine going down the road it's just at idle that it rockets up,guess my hood scoop feeds cool air to inlet at cruise as well

Might some of the intake manifold temps be the intake heating up from the block?

carl i don't know,the sensor is in the air cleaner base plate,its the same filter that pete mantell has on his car

Other than pulling cold air in, I don't think there's much one can do.

Cold air is a good thing in any case. Improves the density of the charge and can make a real difference to power output. Same reason the intercooler exists on a turbo engine.
Cold air perhaps not so good in the winter as it can lead to icing, but perhaps for you that's not an issue.

The other downside of a cold air intake is underhood cosmetics. Again, that may or may not be a priority.

If the problem is only at idle and the engine idles OK, I really wouldn't bother about it.
Spec yourself a package from that Spectre site, and if you find the engine is dying in mid-summer, call up the package and fit it.
Oherwise, just try not to look at the gauge.
