Yes I know, not a kit car forum-but ?  Good looking car +.  Negatives : 200" Ford IL 6, 4 spd od./MG ?  80' Chevette chassis. Suggestions for a good/light IL 6 ? No Jag please.  Thanks, Art.

If they have the same engine compartment dimensions of the Big Healey, an inline 6 from a Toyota Supra might work or the GM Vortec 4200 but it is a tall engine. The Jeep 4 liter inline 6 has been used in a lot of different swaps too or how about the VW VR6?

Classic Roadsters from Fargo was the company that made those.  They produced a V8 version called the Sebring.  The difference was flared fenders on the Sebring model.  I researched those and got quotes, nearly ordered one back in 1984 or so.  They produced a chassis for the car as an option, and the kit in various levels. You used the suspension from a donor car, a Chevette or Mustang II usually.  The engine bay would accommodate the Chevette engine, v6 engines of the day and the Ford 302.  I don't remember them recommending an inline 6, but it makes sense, since that is what the real AH used.

Ok, a "lightweight" L6 ? I supposed, unless you're going, total poser, why even bother with an L6 ? Anyone who knows what end of a screwdriver to grab, will figure it's not the real deal ?  Such a fine knock-off of a British success story, deserves nothing less than a 32v RV8.  Who will be the first ?

Here is a very good compilation of real world (and generally available) engine weights.  As I recall, almost anything short of a boat anchor (maybe ship) is lighter than the Healey 6.

Why an I6?  Sometimes it's just to be different and sometimes it's the sound.  A well tuned inline six with the right exhaust is really sweet sounding.
