Anyone tried this Self Tuning EFI setup for $795?

A company called Fitech EFI sells a complete self calibrating EFI systems from $795 on their website.

The slogan is "Never buy a carb again" or something like that....

Anyone have any experience with these folks?

Sounds like a perfect setup to top off a small V8 in a small British car...

Met them at SEMA last year and they are really nice people to work with. My friend bought one for his 347 stroker that is going in a Mk 1 Capri and he couldn't be happier with it. self learning after you input the basic parameters of tour setup and it is self contained so you don't have a bunch of wires running all over. There is a power lead, a wire from the coolant sensor and from the O2 sensor and that's it. It has been getting some good reviews from the magazines but you always have to take that with a grain of salt.

I suggest you call them and let them know what you want to do with it and they will be very helpful.

Mark I Capri weighs very close to only one ton. With a 347 V8, that will be a handful.

Thanks Jim, I am going to give them a buzz next week. Seems like a great set up and at the right price point to sell a bunch...

Many many moons ago a buddy had a white Mark I Capri outfitted with a T-Bird turbo.... It was such a fun balanced car..... Zero to 60 in 7.0 seconds.Tons of wheel spin..Got between 30-35 MPG depending on the weight of his right foot. As usual a drunk driver ruined his fun and T-Boned him at an intersection... Totalled the car but he didn't have a scratch... Good little car...

Anyone know whether their sensors are something off the shelf so you can get parts on the road if needed?

Carl - He has a full cage in the car with an 8.8" rear and he expects the weight to be around 2500 lbs - still a handful

Rob - The O2 is a standard Bosch unit I believe and I'm sure the temp sensor is an off the shelf unit also. They are a small startup and don't have the money to produce proprietary components that are so readily available. Their throttle body casting looks first rate and it houses the electronics.

Thanks Rick. I reached out to FiTech the other day to find out if the Go Street EFI 400hp version would handle adjusting idle speed up when the AC kicks on - answer was yes.

Also asked if that same version will control timing - waiting on the answer to that.

Rob,

Fairly sure from other posts that it does not control ignition on the 400hp version, need the 600hp for that.
Have the feeling that the price will drop as soon as the Holly Sniper series hits the stores next month!

Hey Mike, you are right, I got a reply saying the 400hp version does not control spark. Good info on the Holley Sniper, I've read some about it but didn't realize it was that close to being real.

Looks like the Holley Sniper is available now. Seeing $999 as the common price at this time. Not likely to drive the $795 FiTech down right away, but since the Holley appears to control spark, it'll likely be competition for the FiTech Go-EFI 4 (the one that does spark) so ultimately the price of both will likely come down.
