Differential Lube

I'd like some commentary on recommended diff lube for my new 3.31 gear set. Dick Luenning recommends 140W but that may come from all his race time on the track. I bought a quart yesterday but thought I'd get some opinions before I pour it in. Also besides weight, anybody using synthetic?

I use 75w90 synthetic. The gears will hold up better with it.

I like 85-140 synthetic. Also the MGB Salisbury has copper/brass pinion thrust washers that require GL4 lube and most new lubes are GL5 and will eat them up. There may be steel ones from another axle that will interchange. Glenn Towery sells Stainless thrust washers for the side spider gears to replace the fiber ones.

Here is a detailed explanation of GL 4 & 5 ratings.

I checked my new quart of 140W and it is GL5.  I will investigate the synthetics to see if sulphur is added.

Some run 75w90, some use 75w140. Some run this in either flavor.
