This thing, and I just bought it. Guess I shouldn't have been so quick to jump the ship the old aluminum V8.

Todd, I give up, what is it ? More importantly, allowed to vintage race ?? We must hear more.  Thanks, roverman.

Don't know exactly what it is.  The builder recently passed away and his brother listed it for sale.  I'll pick it up this weekend.  Its some kind of home built race car with no bodywork.  Reminds me of those newish excocets and Factory Five 818 kits running around now.  Comes with three Buick/Olds engines, a dry sump, new intake, new carb, new crane cam, BW T5 tranny, hand fabricated aluminum uprights, Tilton reverse mount pedals and masters, big ole aluminum rad with shroud and fans, a ton of spares.  Just way too cool to pass it up.  Come to think of it, thats how I ended up with the bmw 2002 race car, and the MGB race car.  Seller thinks it has a 98" wheelbase, so I can think of lots of things that will fit on top of it.  Comes with engineered drawings for everything, including the non existent sheetmetal body work.  If nothing else, it will be a really fun autocross car.  It will feel right at home here with all the race car/TR8/MGB/BMW2002/Rover V8 crap I have.  I already have visions of a Saab Sonnet, a TVR, fiberglass beetle body, Miata, or any number of other things sitting on top off it.

Is that an actual aluminum tub or aluminum riveted to a tube structure?

Sort of looks like a kit car frame, like something that might go under a Manta Mirage.

Oh, except that one was rear engine.

That's pretty darn cool Todd!
And well built from the looks of it.
An old Kellison  J series body looks like it would fit on that and would be awesome.

Live like you mean it.
