I may be able to take a rider - think Darian from San Antonio was looking for a ride... if something doesn't change that may open up as an opportunity for me/him (or someone else if he has other plans since we last talked).

I've also talked with David Fowler here in Houston about caravaning... if anyone else in the Louisiana, TX, New Mexico, Arizona, etc. area wants to join up on a caravan, PM me.  Current plan is as follows but could adjust to accomodate more folks if there's interest:

   * Leave Houston - early morning, Saturday, July 19th.  Map says 14-15hrs total so not bad as 2 days -- could
     do it in 1 day but it'd be a long day of course.
   * Stop over location TBD - plenty of choices - just small towns after pass Ft. Worth till get to Colorado Springs.  
      Would like to go about 8-10 hrs on Saturday to make for an easy drive on Sunday & arrive by about 2 or 3pm if not earlier.
   * Return morning of 24th stopping over night mid way (maybe even drive straight through to get home earlier).

For those folks that are flying into Colorado Springs I am looking into arranging an airport shuttle, but I need I need more than 6 people to make make it cost effective.  It is about 26 miles or so from the airport to the hotel.  Cab fare would be about $60.  The shuttle with 6 passengers would be about $29 each.

Not sure at this point if I will be driving or flying (depends on Kay's status) If I had to guess right now...I will probably be driving solo...most likely leaving SW Ohio sometime Friday or Saturday....a passenger would be welcome....
UPDATE 6/20/2014: It appears now that my friend Howard Hosp,  from Louisville, will riding along to CS...Howard has previously installed a 4.3 in his TVR and is currently finishing up a 3.4 v6 in his mgb gt..Howard has a brother in CS and will be staying with him...

Maybe we can hook up with Bill Jacobson from Washington and caravan together. I'm still debating weather to drive my car or trailer it? The heat across the dessert I'll need to get passed Brenda somehow. My twins can drive our Mazdaspeed Miata there with us. Can't wait should be a blast. We kind of missed meeting you at Dixon car show. We liked the Rover you brought to the show. Nice ride.

Sounds like a workable plan, Cal!  Suggest hwy 50 to Ely, then Grand Junction to pick up  my bro then into Colorado Springs sometime Sunday?

If you are coming in via Grand Junction, and if you want a scenic mountain drive for the last leg into COS, you could pickup US-24 just west of Vail on I-70.  That road takes you through Leadville and into the south end of COS.  It is about 20 minutes slower than I-70 but a lot less traffic and more interesting driving.

I'm talking with a couple of folks about caravaning; both are 50/50 at this point.  No route set in stone, but basically up highway 36 or 287 to Amarillo and pick up 87 from there to Colorado Springs.  Open to doing it in one or two days.  Left to my own devices, I'd probably do 2 days to have time to enjoy stops in some local towns, but if one day works better for others I'd do it that way.  On a trip with my wife last summer we ran across Luchenbach TX...  We ended up spending 1/2 a day there and had a great time!

US-24 from the west. 87 from Texas. Those are both great routes for an MGB road trip! On my way to Texas for BritishV8 2012, route 87 reminded me of that classic car movie "Two Lane Blacktop" (circa 1971, with musicians James Taylor and Dennis Wilson cast in the leading roles - driving a '55 Chevy racecar - and IMHO an amazing performance by Laurie Bird as "The Girl").  Whichever way you come, you should stop for Moss Motoring Challenge snapshots along the way. Those two routes in particular will provide lots of scoring opportunities.

Wife and I (Charles) are planning on leaving Mcdonald, TN 7/16. Planning on crossing the TN and MS Rivers on the ferries. Crossing southern part of MO and central KS then into Co. Trying to get the cruise working, makes life much more pleasant.
