Ford, In it's infinite wisdom made the 3.8 V6 with a larger 164 tooth flywheel. So what does that mean? Well, The Ford truck V8's(say 1989 F150) used the same flywheel and 11" clutch. OK, I'll cut to the chase. It means millions of Ford V6 T5 and bellhousings can mate up to Ford V8's. The larger diameter clutch will hold more power also. The flywheel does weigh 8 lbs more. 81 and newer is 50 oz balance, older is 28 oz balance. Here is a picture of a 89 F150 flywheel with 3.8 V6 pressure plate bolted up. May have to massage the tunnel a bit for the larger bellhousing.
