Any interest in a 1965 MG Midget?

Local widow trying to sell her '65 Midget.
Wire wheel car, roll-up windows, all stock.

It's in Reno NV and I hope to get a look at it in the next few days.
Will report back on rust and general condition if there is interest.
Price around $1000.00, maybe a little less.
With title.

No real relation to seller, it was on CL a while back but she just now got back to me about it.
I've bought too many other cars since then to consider this one for myself.

OK, I now own the Midget.
Didn't really want it, seller was a widow, shop it was at is closed down, looked like it might end up in the junk yard, so I've rescued it.

Body has some older light repairs but the seats, floors and sills are excellent.
Car was stored inside for over twenty years until the husband recently passed away!
Engine turns over.
One very small rust spot at the bottom of the passenger side door post.
Originally red, now faded gold.
Car is very original down to the air cleaners with the only major exception being a commercial roll-bar.

I'm going to try to make it run, it will still need a full restoration but you can hardly give away a car that does not run.
Once running I expect to put it back up for sale.
I had forgotten how small the Spridgets are!

Trying to hold the price to $800.00 as a "running engine" project.
If I have to put more into it such as a brake rebuild or tires the price will rise.
If it becomes a driver it will be hard for me to sell it, I used to thrash these as a kid.

Some minor tinkering and it runs!

Biggest issue was that some one spliced an extra wire from the back of the tach to provide "Ignition" power for some sort of accessory.
That might have been fine if it was not shorted to ground.
No power to the coil = dead MG.
That one wire may be why the car was parked so many years ago!
Lucas cannot be blamed for this one.

Had to clean the carb bowls a bit so that both feed fuel.
Now runs well and I have not even tuned it up yet.
Good oil pressure and the original temp gauge works too.

Of course the master cylinder is stuck, I knew that would be the case.
Rebuild kit is cheap but more than I want to do.

Now for sale as a running engine project car. $950
Northern Nevada, very close to Reno and Lake Tahoe.

Now theoretically traded away for bodywork on my El Camino.
Which means I have to buy my new quarter panels ASAP.
Which means some Spitfire/GT6 parts are now up for sale in a new ad.

Isn;t the car hobby wonderful.Wheels within wheels as they say.I;m doing a TR3 a4A and aTR6 and afriend across town is selling hisMorris Minor convertable due to ill health and all the serious unibody rebuild is done.I said to myself it will be easier to find to find the money to buy it now than it will be to find one later when I really want one andhave the money so now for some reason beyond any logic I have five cars.
