This one has me wondering:


What are those four black hoses for?

Seeing they are inline with the intake ports, and resemble Hilborn or Ron's Racing injection lines, I'm shooting for fuel injectors.

I've seen nitrous and propane plumbed like that before.
But that picture just doesn't look right.
Possibly some racers psych?

Just a guess here, but I think that they may oil scavage lines for the dry sump system. I believe circle track cars use it to pull the drain back oil out of the head during high G cornering.

That sounds plausible. I probably should have said that this engine appeared in Tony Stewart's old Silver Crown Sprint car...

Memory bank triggered.
Those are methanol injectors.
They run through the side of the head to help vaporization of the alcohol.
The injector also needs to be as near to the valve as possible due to the huge amount of fuel injected. They displace too much air if used higher up in the intake.
