Early MGB rear end required

Looking (again) for an early MGB rear end. Prefer West Coast if possible. What ya got?

I don't know what the difference from early to late, but I have a 71 MGB GT full rear end suspension complete, shocks and leaf springs here in Sacramento CA.

Early = "banjo style" stamped housing.  

Late = cast iron center section with tubes out to the wheels. (The MGB tube axle is called a "Salisbury" axle. The name comes from the location of the Dana factory where it was made.)

From memory, I think the change happened in 1965.

I have an early MGB/MGA Banjo style 3.9 Rear Dif .in very good condition if you are interested. Don't know if you are after the fine spline or the course spline spider gear. Dave

Besides for the early vs. late, you also have narrow (wire wheel) vs. wide (disc wheel) which means there are four axle types.

The MGB axle bolts directly into the MGA but has different brakes and the hubs are slightly different- only due to the 7/16" MGA vs. the 1/2" MGB. I think there was some other small difference too. I believe the MGA also had the same two width axles as well leaving 6 different axles but they could all be interchanged with each other if desired. Now if anyone was ever weird enough to place an MGA axle in a late model MGB for anything, I don't know what i would think about that...

And I too have an extra MGB differential. Willing to split.

Last MGA we put together, we upgraded the rear brakes to MGB early rear brakes and 3.909:1 differential. That was for an MGA with a supercharged 1.8L I4.

Also have late model MGB axles.
