Well, you're an honest chap. Not many of us would have admitted to that. Glad there wasn't too much damage.

Worst thing I did was reversing my Landrover into the drive too fast and rammed the wife's shopping trolley. Luckily I was able to find a bumper in a scrap yard and she never noticed that the front and rear bumpers on her car don't match.

Hello it's me crash I got another six hours work in on the car I found parts I went out to the shop and Doug through pieces and parts I had left over body Tub they really belong to a customer I talked to him he said cut it up take what you need I hated to cut a good tub but I also hate to spend money I dug through body panels and found one good front fender NOS old stock triumph never been down the road I'll do the bodywork on front valance tonight take the whole section off paint the inside before installing and I should have a minor touchup under the hood all the left after that is paint to doors to fenders front valance one hood and I'll be backout terrorizing the streets I hope to have it done on Saturday and go to a show on Sunday called mad dogs and Englishmen I think my only problem is going to be drying time if you rush servicer or paint you will get shrink spots I'm on the downhill side of it I can see the end the old girls going to be pretty as ever    photos

Hello still working away I got the bodywork and servicer done on front valance servicer done on my new fendor is like 90% humidity here and the stuff is not drying very fast I have a question for you has anybody ever used a front bumper for Moss they are about $350 and in stock to send a bumper to re-chrome would be $350 or more and take two months the last aftermarket bumper I used I said I'd never use one again but I hear now they're better than they used to be  signed is just too hot for this crap

Congrats on a fast recovery Tom! Understand the heat situation....hard to do anyrhing in the heat....was 110 here but not the humidity you have there. Don't know about Moss' s bumper?....Waiting for your track results!! Also thanks for posting up info about the strongest puller fan. The Caravan fan, I was able to pick up 2 of them at pick n pull for $28 each. How did you wire them up with 3 relays? I was wondering if I can wire them into the ls1 computor to control them somehow.

tomsbad6

Hello Calvin if you want to run one speed high just hook the black wire and yellow wire together to ground hook the dark green and the light green wire together and hooked a positive and that will give you high speed if you hook those together hokum to a battery you can test it and see if it sucks the carpet off the floor I think you'll be shocked when you see how much draw the thing has when you try to restrict it give it a try I think most the guys on here think I'm crazy if I get a spare minute I'll sit down and write up a wiring diagram for how to use three relays to run two speeds

Hello hot sweaty tired I got another couple of hours in this afternoon did the inside touchup on the car I have a couple photos for you the first one shows How it was taped off and sprayed the second one I took a picture of myself in the wheel tub that I adjust painted good old Centauri enamel my tape line went right through where you see me in the picture I wheeled the two together no one will ever know I crashed it. I'm than a go take a shower drink a beer get some food come out the garage and start all over I have to get the nose and passenger wheel tub painted tonight inside and out I'm going to clearcoat the front valance after it's assembled you're probably wondering how I'm than a well this thing on with everything painted I'll take some pictures it's a real cool trick I think you'll like it if my radiator comes tomorrow I'll be on the road on Saturday wish me luck

I got really crappy news today I went to buy paint DuPont is discontinuing Centauri that is the only paint I have ever found that truly is exact British racing green I ran around town looking for a paint store that had old stock on the shelf mixing colors it took two stores working together to come up with 2 quarts looks like the next time I do the car it gets a complete paint job I'm thinking mallard with the gray interior I built one like that eight years ago the car was beautiful

tomsbad6

Hello almost bedtime tomorrow I weld it back together photos

I asked about the bumper on 6 Pack. In the Body forum, if you want to check replies.

You know there are stainless bumpers, if you want to push the boat out? I heard good report of those, although it's 18 months since I was on the TR Register forum.

Hello it's day five on the project I thought I would start in on finish painting panels but it took a little longer to put the tub back together I forgot I had to fabricate new chrome Ali brackets for the bumper a lot of welding inside the car being careful not to mess up paint I have photos you can see how I welded painted panels in without burning the paint where you can see it if my radiator comes tomorrow I'm good to go to the car show on Sunday headlights fenders and hoods not really necessities been a long week of going back to work when I get out of work photos notice how I use compressed air to cool the painted panel on the backside as I weld you have to drill precise holes not all the way through before you start welding very time-consuming still faster than pulling the engine and wiring to paint

My, that was quick. I can imagine the average bodyshop making a meal-and-a-half of that work.

Here's the Bumper thread I started on 6 Pack. It now has a link to another Bumper thread, which drifted o/t, as they do.

Hello it's like really hot here in Michigan the heat index is been like 112° 70 and 80% humidity I had a good time on Sunday at the car show with the family didn't get much chance to talk to Ted Lathrop he was sick as a dog it was extremely hot on Sunday and we left the car show early it was a nice smooth hour drive each way it seems to be too hot to paint unless you have temperature control booth I don't think there's much I can do until the weekend I thought I'd have the car done by Friday but I don't think that's can work I talked to a painter friend of mine and he said the only shot that I have a painting this week is to get up early and spray at 5 o'clock in the morning I'm going to give that a try tomorrow and spray the nose of the car with clear it felt good on Sunday to drive the car I had my wife with me in the car so I couldn't go too fast but it was smooth and straight right up to about 110 mph so the crash clearly did not even tweak my front end alignment that's good news the dragstrip here still has not opened but I hear they're doing some testing sending cars down the track the weather here is supposed to break Saturday night and give me maybe two or three days of time to paint

signed I hate being patient

tomsbad6

Hello Saturday the 20th the weather finally broke here it's only 82 with 50% humidity perfectly paintable the weatherman says I have a couple of days of this weather since all my parts need a lot of drying time I decided to cheat the system rather than wait 24 hours before blocking enamel I'm blocking in clearing it in four hours it's amazing what triple the hardware will do seem to be working fine I'm glad to be back at it moving forward a couple of photos and yes the windshield is unbolted and slid back so there will not be a tape line yes it's doing it the hard way but nothing looks better than old-fashioned enamel or lacquer blocked and cleared modern base coat clear coat just doesn't have that kind of depth unless you use three stage candy. I got my Moss bumper this week quite honestly it's shockingly nice nothing like the reproductions I've used in the past two thumbs up to Moss motors   signed racing the weatherman

f5 001.JPG

tomsbad6

Hello it's me again got up this morning at 430 humidities 90% but the temperatures 71 so it's Tuesday morning I got almost 2 full courts a clear on the hood no runs no fat lady no bugs looks great now I can go take a shower and I'm off to work
hood 003.JPG more photos almost left now is wait for the clear on the hood to dry I will not able to color sand or wheel any clear for a couple of weeks going over the only mammal you have to wait for any shrinking to take place years ago pictures of the car minus the grill the one photo I got to cars at once not bad for not being wheeled yet
