I've read some Nash Metropolitan articles and came across this forum. I'm looking for a floor shift assembly for this Met. Would anyone know and numbers, makes, or anything about these units?  Thanks Frank

From what I've been able to discover, the engine/transmissions were  mostly the Austin B-series, which were used in the MGA, and in larger cc, in the MGB, as well as the Morris Oxford/ Austin Cambridge and even the International Harvester "Metro-Mite" delivery truck.  Depending on where you live, you may be able to find parts sources locally.  Another option might be to look at a Japanese 5 speed - at one point, there was a connection between Austin and Nissan, so something there might help.  I seem to recall a number of BMC cars being upgraded with Datsun/Nissan 5 speeds when perusing Hemmings.

Hope this is some help,
Doug

The Datsun transmission (B210), 4 and 5 speed,  has become expensive and some what hard to find. The transmissions are $700 and up when you can find one. The conversion kits start at about $650 and range to $1000 +. Rivergate is one source and another can be found at Gerard's garage. Rivergate has a long history and Garard has the updated kits from one of the originators of the idea. I think Moss and British Victoria make kits that are very expensive.

I'm finding this project might be out of my price range.  But I'm going to look a little longer. Thanks for the replies.  Frank
