TR7 drive shaft CV joints

Hello
Does anyone know of a source for replacement gaiters ?

There is not a source. You have two choices; find a good used dirve shaft or get one with u-joints.

Ian, Not sure if they will work but I've used early VW Beetle swing axle boots for custom CV boots. They have a bolt and nut attachment so you can open and regrease.

There was a shop that rebuilt them, they used Mazda 323 balls which could be ordered oversize.
But shop has now closed down.
Finding the gaiters is the hard part so far

A Range Rover Classic, short wheelbase driveshaft is almost a direct replacement.  You have to redrill two holes in the differential drive flange or that end of the driveshaft, to fit it, but that is all that is required to make it work.  Added benefit is rebuildable U-Joints. You can buy them new online or from local suppliers, already modified from several wedge specialty shops, or get one from a scrap yard and rebuild it.

Hi,

I just rebuilt a TR CV Prop shaft, out of 3 shafts there was only one that had  worn CV and that end of the shaft had been exposed to debri because the gaiter had falllen to pieces.

Any Firm that rebuilds CV joints can rebuild the TR7 CV joint propeller shaft, "Tailshaft" whether they will is another matter.

 I use the 1982 Mazda 323 CV Joint Balls & Boot, the balls can be bought in fractional  oversizes from most bearing outlets.

The Boot "Gaiter"  that I use is the shortest of the Mazda' 323's.

If one needs to fit a propshaft easiest route I have found is to use  the long shaft from Jaguar XJ6 LWB, shorten it about 1 1/2" depending where the g/box mount position is, std or hotrodded TR.

Just a quick note,
From first hand experience you will need to use a boot/gaiter that will withstand the rpm that you are turning.
Front wheel drive boots are designed for low rpm.
The driveshaft see's 3.5 or more times that rpm and the boot will explode if not designed for it.
Check out the driveshaft boots for an AWD vehicle. They are made to handle the rpm.
If I remember correctly the AWD dodge Caravan ones fit.
