How much space is needed behind the dash for a typical after market speedo - like autometer, stewart-warner, etc.?

Rob, based on my old hot rodding days it seems that most instruments are about the same size and depth. I know that Bill Guzman recommends TPI gauges for his V6 conversions so those should fit pretty well. Are you running something new behind the dash such as a A/C duct that would cause interference with the stock gauge depth?

Thanks Bill - yes, i'm putting an A/C unit behind the dash & have modified the square tube that runs side to side to make room.  cuts into space where the speedo would go.  I was able to find some tech notes on auto-meter.  Looks like their HotRod series is 2 1/4" deep & their other series are 1 3/4" so I should be ok.  I'll also see what I can find on TPI.  Another gauge set I like are Classic Instruments -- they have some cool gauges -- like a 3 3/8" Speedo/tach combination & 3 3/8" quad (oil, temp, fuel, volts)... I haven't decided how I want to lay out my dash yet -- depth will likely drive what I can/can't fi more than how I'd like to lay it out.
