MGB hub to hub measurement

The website above, below the front picture states that the standard hub to hub measurements on a MGB is 52" and anyone confirm this to being correct? Thanks

I measured two 1968-1980 MGB axles up and came up with this back in November 2010:



These measurements are taken from straight edge to straight edge on tube type MGB rear axles. The straight edge actually touches the drums outer edge. To be fair, this means that we are ADDING approximately 1/8" to each side of the axle. If you would like to REMOVE an additional 1/4" Total from either figure, you may. Why? Because wheels do NOT touch the outer edge of the drum, only the inside flange before they flare outward.

MGB rear axle Measurements:

Wire wheel axle: 50 1/4"

Disc wheel axle: 51 3/4"


To make it clear what I said above, if you want to take into full effect the width that no-one ever takes into effect, you could say the axles are 50" and 51 1/2" respectively.

Yes, but I think Jason was asking about the MGB front suspension. I'd measure mine, but I'm pretty far from home at the moment.

Yes I was primarily look for the front but getting the rear measurement helps as well as I was going to need it as well. I did get a measurement of 51" from another source for the front. Thanks for the info.

The front track was 1/4" less at the front than the rear (49" front vs 49-1/4" rear) so may be another way to verify the math.

I found mine to be 52" when I had a Ford rear diff narrowed for my car.
