steering column for a TR4 A conversion

how do you guys rerout the steering column in a tr4 a conversion.  what do you use as a universial and how many?

This is a way that has been used with some success. Woodward steering joints.

This is on my TR6 but it should be very similar on a TR4.

it can be done real easy by moving the steering shaft mount under the dash over by about 1 inch. The hole in the firewall needs to be enlarged slightly and both mounts under the dash need to be moved over as well as the hole in the dash itself must be enlarged slightly. This lets the shaft slide between the number 5 and 7 cylinder on a SBC. The clearance is tight between the steering shaft and the # 5 spark plug but mine has worked with both a straight plug and an angle plug cylinder head. This is the best shot I have of mine with out spending time to take more photos. This set up uses the stock steering u-joints and clears everything by just enough. A miss is as good as a mile.

I would take John's advice. It was a ton of work routing mine (all of it hunched over) so if you can sneak the stock shaft through on a Chevy, this is the way to go.
