302/t5  tranny mount want to bolt in best to drill thru frame into interior with gr 8 bolts or angle bracket and bolt hort thru frame rail parallel to floor saw one bolt vert in pics here but could not see if they went thru floor thanks barry

best to make the tranny mount use the existing holes/captive nuts in the frame rails.

No need to reinvent the wheel, the stock crossmember works fine. I cut out the center section of the mount with a cut off wheel and welded in a 3/8" plate that bolts to the transmission. I snapped a couple pics to give you the idea (hard to take pics of something 6" off the ground. Ignore the bolts, they're too long and just temporary. Or maybe permanent the way my project has ground to a halt. I should mention that my mount incorporates a urethane mount for a fox body mustang.

Ryan's approach pretty well mirrors mine. There's a set of 3 tapped holes in each chassis member - depending on your fore/aft engine location, you may have to use the rear 2 and add another couple of matching holes to the crossmember.

Barry, I've attached a picture of my trans mount.  Your looking at the bottom of it but I think you can get the idea.  By all means use the existing holes and nut plates.
