help on spare tire

Help!  I'm looking for a source on a 16" rim (to clear big Wilwood calipers) temporary spare with a 4x4-1/2" bolt pattern.  I heard that some Saab cars had the right bolt spacing, but i've only found 4x4-1/4" at the local Pick-N-Pull. Any ideas?

Chris,

I am using a 15" space saver spare from an 85 Saab, but I am only running 14" Minilite replicas and it clears my stock calipers with some room to spare.  My son is using rostyle wheels on his '64 B and we bought a 15" from a thrift store and it also works with the stock calipers .  Don't know what it was from.  

Are you going to Wisconsin next summer.  If you are you could stop in Denver and try my spare and if you have a flat before I do I'll loan it to you.

i think i used a spare once or twice in the previous 25 years, but i can't be sure.  i am positive i have used my cooler each time i took a trip.   the spare is just insurance and the risk is tiny,  but you are sure to need your cooler.  just a thought.   hope to see you'all in Wisc.

I found a space saver off a Lincoln Mark 8 which had a nice aluminum wheel and mounted upside down is a handy recess for small items in the trunk. When you go junkyarding look at the top end cars. You may pay another 5 bucks for a really nice one but it looks much better next to the cooler.

Thanks to all who replied!  I finished the installation of my self-built anti-tramp bars and Panhard rod just in time on
Saturday to meet up with a few of the other members of BMCU for the "dust-off" season's first cruise.  I must say the the improvement in handling made the effort worthwhile.  The rear end seems really locked in place now and I don't feel like the there is any of the weird movement on full throttle hill climbing that I was experiencing last summer.  I sort of patterned my panhard rod after Curtis's, but had to alter it to allow for my centered fuel tank. The traction bars use the pivoting lever I've seen on a few other's cars.  I had the lot powder-coated, and I think the effort adds to the car.  I plan to continue the hunt for a 16" temp spare. As far as V808 goes the verdict is still out,  who's going from the west coast that might be headed past Salt Lake City on I-80 or I-70?

I have Wilwood brakes in front and so need a minimum of a 15 inch wheel there. However, I can still fit a 14 inch wheel in the back. My plan is to keep the original MGB spare, and if I get a flat in the front, simply put the rear tire in the front and the spare tire on the rear. Considering the jack lifts up the whole side of the car, this should be easy.
