What cam do I need

I have a stock 1963 Olds  215 engine 185HP version, I am going to remove it to facilitate painting and was talking to my local speed shop about what I could do to gain a little more get up and go.  Their suggestion was to do a 3 angle cut on the valves and a little porting.  Along with this recurve the distributor, add a can and install stiffer valve springs.  So my question is, is it worth my time and if so what cam should I use
