I posted a question about this on the "how to move the shifter ahead 8 inches" thread but I thinkit should be posted seperately because it is a different topic. To reiterate, I looked at a tranny out of an 86 camaro v8 , but it had no grenn tag saying 1352 150.All I could find for ID was a code  on top that said  1352 097 901. I cant reference this code anywhere. Can anyone help me out. Tim

If the ID tag is missing I don't think there is another code identifier - (just casting part nos).
If you're worried about the correct application (Camaro V8), select first gear and count the input shaft rotations vs one output shaft rotation - you should count 2.95 rotations if it is truly a Camaro V8 xsmn.

QuoteSo what's the 1351 097 901 number got to do with anything?

It is the casting number for the case. It is no help for ID purposes. Short of disassembly, Graham's suggestion will be the best.

Thanks Graham. Thats a good idea.In fact the perfect solution. When I consult the ID chart, it says 86 Camaro T5 number is 1352 150 with a 335 ist gear and .68 5th. . 1352 157 is 86 F cars with the 295 1st gear and .63 5th gear. Is that really the Camaro V8 T5, cause if it is that the one with the best all round ratios. If the tannt isn't sold I will do the turn test and let you know.PS I live in ST. Thomas just up the road from you. Thanks again Graham and also thank you Carl.
