"Also looking forward to something nearer to weather tight (a relative term on a British car to be sure) than the Cobra. I like to drive my projects and the romance of a good soaking during a rain storm began to wear off after the third or fourth time."

Amen!  That's why I bought a B conversion last year and will be selling my motorcycle soon.

Marc,
Sorry for the delay.  I am using the stock rearend.  I get about 22-25 MPG on the hiway.  That is with the AC on and at 75-80 mph.  I am doing a ford 8 inch with a 3.0 gear for it.  Should be done in the next few weeks.  Will make hiway work a little easier.
Now I run at 2900 at 80, with the 3.0 I should be at 2200 at 80.  Gas mileage should go up.  The original gear is a blast to drive, as it has good acceleration.  92-95 in the quater mile.  But it is running out of steam by 100.  5600 rpm is 110.  I need to change that because I run my car at Maxton, a standing start mile.  I would like to hit 115-120 next time.

Motor is coming together. Keith Craft block (balanced and blueprinted .30 over 302), Weiand Stealth intake, Autolite 4100 spreadbore (heavily worked), Edelbrock Performer RPM heads (2.03, 1.90), Comp cams lifters, cam, pushrods and roller rockers. Should make some decent power. Was able to pick up a fresh WC T-5 and a '95 bellhousing. Happy with the progress.

Progress on other fronts as well. Sebring wings and valance in house. Aluminum MGC hood in house. Numerous bits and pieces acquired. Still struggling with the wheel thing - want 16" spline-drive Superlites but am waiting on them to get the bugs worked out of the backset issues. No rush, but I hope it's soon.

Pics in a month or two when the garage is cleared and I have something to show for the winter's work.

Cheers,
