4.0 liter high compression pistons?

Hello folks,

I am wondering if anyone know of a source whee I can get 11:1 CR pistons for the rove 4.0. I am interested in building this and the only pistons I can find are the forged ones. Does anyone know of a source where I can acquire pistons for this engine?

I currently have the 4.0 with 9.35:1 CR.

Hi,

What forged 4.0 pistons have you found, source and price please, I am looking to move to 4.0 or 3.9 Rover from the 3.5 for next year and would prefer forgings, standard bore would be handy as well. Thanks in advance.

I suggest you try the search feature here.This has been covered in-depth, ie. "D and D", likes the 255" V8 Ford piston. VW Type IV is available in forged. Good Luck, roverman.

I think to remember me you can use Ford Pinto 3.7" bore piston.

There are flat top Mahle 94 mm pistons available for VW beetle engines , IIRC they were with the 24 mm pin as 4,0/4,6 litre engines and the comp height was just about right. They have coated skirts and look quite nice. One UK engine builder advised against using them because VW engine is air-cooled with cast iron cylinders and Rover is obviously water cooled alloy block. Something to do with different design specs vs. thermal expansion etc. I do know that locally they are very popular in Pinto rally engines so they should work just fine.

You need to bush the rover rods 100 thou. and check the match of rod length and compression height, i know you can make them work with a 4.6 crank and 4.0 rods. Maybe find a 4.6 crank?

I believe that the 255 Ford piston that Art mentioned is used in a stroker build.

You heard it here-first ! Diamond Racing Pistons webb-site, inventory reduction sale(-50%).List $76.70ea. They show 76 pistons in stock. 3.700" bore with 1.220" comp. dist. You get to do math for rod/stroke, to make it work. Good Luck. roverman.
