Yes you can flanged in the longer lengths.

Would it not be better to re-liner with the 96mm bore size and gain capacity that way, with the 86.36 crank you get 5000cc. without the problems associated with an excessively long stroke.

Probably won't want to rev much over 5500 RPM though.

Ok, What kind of vehicle are you guy's building that will "need" a 3.85" stroke? Anyone calked the "I" loads at red-line? Sports cars kind of like "enough" torque and free reving. I mite be off here but I don,t see this with a 3.85" cast crank, with a short rod ratio, day-in-out vs. say drags? Just 2 cents, roverman.

Dunno Art, I'll give you my reactions when the 340 goes online. It has the 3.85 stroke and a 1.8 rod ratio, total piston weight of 579.7 grams and total rod weight of 606.1 grams split 447.1/159 all parts in. I won't know for sure until she fires off but I think it'll wind out allright. Shooting for a 7 grand redline. Hope you don't mind waiting 'til spring/summer.

Jim, yes the benefit of a much taller deck. With your build, it sounds like the biggest problem be buying rear tires? Me thinks you want ,"Badass" to respect lil' brother? I shouldn't even be,"Yakin" this stuff. I'm sposed' to concentrate on project,Rotus Blossom".roverman.

Whoa, 3.85? We're talking 3.95! (The 360 Buick 300) It's not about needing it. It's true I don't NEED it, especially for my current application. BTW speaking of application, my Vega's hatch decided to try to take my thumb off this morning. SUPER irritating, and it hurts like a mthrFkr!!!

Need? Who said anything about need? Now want, that's a whole nother thing. Art, I hope you get your Rotus Blossum built. Nic, what are you going to do with your 300 once the 360 is built? And yes, I would like to be able to keep up with the Roadmaster, but I have a feeling it ain't gonna happen.

I'm right there with ya on that line of thinking, Art. Exactly why I like the short stroke baby Buick/Rover. I'm gonna build a 3.9, be happy, & run the piss outta my MGB sports car (not a muscle car).

Carl and all, I must apologize that,"Rotus Blossum", stroke be somewhere in middle at 3.3". Yes-true that's .5 over yours but "measly" .65" under Nic's, proposed, "Tractor Pull" motor. Lest anyone be torked out of shape, I'm anticipating, "usable" sports- car- like torque, thru the range. May we all be "scholarly" at Diversity University.roverman.

Honestly, if it'd plant the tires and hoist the fronts off the ground that'd be just about enough. Those mountain passing zones would be gettin' real short.

I gotdo admit I'm a big fan of the short stroke motor too. I love the puzzle of trying to figure out the oddball engine though. I'm fascinated by it. If it turns out that the 360 is my next engine I have no idea what I'll put it in.

On that note I was a bit of a fan of the 4.0 stroke on the Rotus engine mostly because of the wicked 2.1ish rod ratio for big RPMs.

Dude, "Rotus Blossom" IS a totally bitchin' name. LOL! I love it.
