David Park's Big Block Ford powered 1960 Sunbeam Alpine

as published in British V8 Newsletter, Volume XV Issue 3, December 2007

Owner: David Park
City: Centerburg, Ohio
Model: 1960 Sunbeam Alpine
Engine: Ford 410cid Big-Block
Conversion performed by: Owner.

Engine: 410 cubic inch Big Block Ford dressed to look like a 427. The intake is an original 427 low-riser with dual Edelbrock 600 cfm carbs. Lunati hydraulic cam, Accel dual-point distributor. Otherwise it's a stock rebuild.
Cooling: Griffin radiator with cooling fans from a 2002 Mustang Cobra.
Exhaust: home made shorty headers, hooked-up to a set of side pipes from a Cobra kit car.
Transmission: Borg-Warner T10 4 speed transmission (from an early Ford Falcon V8 donor.)
Rear Axle: Dana 44 with 4.11:1 gears.
Suspension: front suspension is stock Sunbeam with a Ford Mustang rack and pinion. Rear suspension is stock. Sway bars have been installed, both front and rear.
Chassis Mods: 2" by 3" steel frame custom built from the seats forward. The fuel tank was enlarged to feed the big motor.
Brakes: four wheel disc brakes. (Larger front disc brake rotors were fitted, and modifications were made so they would work with later model GM parts.)
Wheels/Tires: the wheels are Halibrand replicas, 15x8 rear and 15x7 front. 50 series tires.
Body Mods: fiberglass flares (front and rear). Cobra hood scoop. I also have a hardtop that's painted to match the car.
Electrical: all electrical wiring is stock. All gauges are original.
Completed: ~2003.
Comments: I did all the engineering and work on this car myself, except for the seat covers. This is one Sunbeam that isn't afraid of snakes... especially cobras!
