https://britishv8meet.org

Same website that we've used for both Dayton and Wytheville.....but with a twist.

Be sure to check out all of the tabs on the drop-downs....the banquet menu and details on sites we will visit can be found on the "BritishV8 2020 Meet - Event Details 2020"
tab. Online Registration is also found on this tab.

Hotel information (you will go to a different website to reserve your room) can be found under the "Itinerary - Venue" tab. We have a mix of King rooms and Doubles rooms....but the king rooms are limited. (Be sure to enter the correct date range when searching availability.)

https://www.marriott.com/event-reservations/reservation-link.mi?id=1556810803172&key=GRP&app=resvlink

Many of you already know this property...it was the host hotel for both NAMGBR's MG93 and NAMGBR's MG2003 in addition to a "Six Pack" gathering of the TR6s.

To order regalia, you will go to a different website which is through our regalia provider, Wagner Signs. You will be charged separately for regalia from event registration. (Note...all purchases subject to a small processing fee that goes to the vendor and Illinois State Sales tax. Sorry.) If you wish to pick up you regalia at the meet, please click "In Store Pickup" and we will bring it to St.Louis. You can have your purchases mailed to you in advance if you wish, but there is a shipping charge.

Scroll through the website...we have a variety of items and colours available, including an event decal. Standard t-shirts are available in either embroidered logo or a Direct-To-Garment print.

This is going to be a great gathering.....register today!

We are only about three months away from BritishV8 2020 in St.Louis!

Have YOU sent in your registration yet?

We currently have fifteen enthusiasts on the books.

We encourage you to go to the registration website NOW and register for this event!

https://britishv8meet.org/

Please remember that regalia such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, ballcaps, and more are available through a second website.

Sales have been disappointing at best...and it's the regalia sales and the auction that really keeps these events in the black and provides seed money for future events.

Please visit the website and place your order. If you will be in St.Louis for the meet, click the "In-store Pickup" button and we will bring your purchase to St.Louis for you. You can also support the event even if you are not going to be able to make it to St.Louis by ordering a t-shirt, etc, and having it mailed directly to you!

You have until May 13th to reserve a room at the Sheraton Westport Chalet and get our preferred rate. Don't procrastinate!

Hope to see you in The Lou - Your Gateway to Performance!

Greetings!

Registrations and room reservations are slowly coming in for BritishV8 2020.

We are currently at twenty-one meet registrations (with about three full months before we will be in St.Louis). We budgeted on about 50 with hopes of getting 60 to 70.....based on attendance at previous meets.

Our room block at the Sheraton Westport Chalet has had the following pickup as of 3/12:

6/2– 1 room (this is Jean and me as we are coming in a day early to prepare)
6/3 – 26 of 35 rooms
6/4 – 26 of 45 rooms
6/5 – 28 of 45 rooms
6/6 – 27 of 45 rooms
6/7 – 1 room
6/8 – 1 room

Our contract with the hotel has an attrition clause of 70%...meaning we need to book a MINIMUM of 25 of 35 rooms on Wednesday night and 32 of 45 rooms on each of the following three nights or we will get hit with some pretty severe "loss of revenue" penalties by the hotel.

We also have a "Food & Beverage" guarantee to meet (banquet and bar costs...excluding tax and gratuities).

In reviewing and comparing room lists with event registration lists, it appears that some of you may not have registered for the event yet (we've taken into consideration that some of you may be sharing a room.)

https://britishv8meet.org/

I know that the Coronavirus pandemic is on the back of everybody's minds....I only hope that you have not let this create too big of a roadblock for you to join us. We need your participation!

And now is probably a good time to remind everyone to order a t-shirt, etc, even if you cannot make it to The Lou!

See you in The Lou in June!

UPDATE....

We are monitoring the Coronavirus situation and will be complying with any and all mandates that come in from the government.

At present, we WILL still be holding the event this June.

To date, registrations for both the event and for the hotel have been less than budgeted .

We encourage you to make these registrations and reservations sooner rather than later.

Don't miss this event........they are always FUN!

mowog1

This meet is still a GO at this time.

We need your event registrations and your hotel reservations!

And don't forget your regalia!

BritishV8 2020 is only three months away!

BV8 2020 Sunset.jpg

mowog1

At this time, barring mandates from State or Federal governments, this meet will indeed be held as planned.

We will continue to advise the status of BritishV8 2020..

We are sitting at 30 registrants....the event is a little over two months away....

Hotel reservations can be made up through 5/13/2020.

NOW is the time to send in your event registration and get your hotel reservation made..

mowog1

Greetings!

A couple of requests....

If you have registered for BritishV8 2020 but have not gotten your hotel room yet, please do so (or advise if you are rooming with another attendee or staying elsewhere.

If you have a hotel room at the Sheraton Westport Chalet but have NOT registered for the event, please send in your event registration!

If you have a room booked at the Sheraton Westport Chalet but did NOT book under our room block, please advise so that we can get credit for your booking under our block....this will help us meet our contractual obligations for the event with the Sheraton.

If you have not looked at the regalia website and ordered your t-shirt, etc.....please do so!

Thanks!

mowog1

Greetings!

I had a good conversation with the Sheraton Westport Chalet today.

They are going to work with us in an effort to provide a great event.

While Missouri is indeed under a Shelter In Place order at present, that order will expire on May 11th. Of course, we all know that these orders can be extended if needed.

The good news from the hotel in terms of how it effects YOU as a reservation holder for a room.....the Westport has indeed changed their cancellation policy to a 24-hour advance notice....so as long as you inform them within 24 hours that you will NOT be able to keep your reservation, they will cancel your reservation without any charge to you.

The good news from the hotel in terms of how it effects the MEET and its organizers is that they will be flexible when it comes to our contractual obligations, especially regarding our attrition clause and or Food & Beverage guarantee.

We will be staying in contact with the hotel staff over the next five weeks and will keep you all in the loop of any changes that may happen.

We encourage you to register for BritishV8 2020 if you've not done so already.....and to reserve your room at the Sheraton Westport Chalet today!

So for now....."See You in the Lou for BritishV8 2020!"

UPDATE - 4/15/2020

Pete and I (along with the hotel) are still monitoring the situation..

The "Shelter-In-Place" order that Missouri currently has will expire on May 11th. Of course, we do not know if it will be extended or not.

We will know more regarding this at that time.

If we do need to cancel the event, we're not sure this time if we will reschedule later in the year or not. There are a lot of variables that come into play. We will keep all involved in the loop when details become available.

Keep the faith.

Safety/Faster!

mowog1

Greetings.

We just received the following from the Museum of Transport.....we will keep you advised on alternatives that we find for our Friday activities.....

"The National Museum of Transportation Board has informed me after being updated by the St. Louis County Executive and after talking with the St. Louis Tourism Board, they have decided to cancel all events for June at the Museum.  This includes my facility rentals, my car shows and my group tours.  Unfortunately we will not be able to host your British V8-2020 car show & group on June 5th.  As of right now, the museum remains closed to the general public and has agreed to due our part in limiting gatherings of large groups should we re-open sometime in June.  The St. Louis Tourism Board is pushing for openings in mid July.  Many of my convention groups booked for July have already cancelled saying their hotels will not be hosting them.  This is such a completely unprecedented time for the world as you well know and as we go through this together we want to do our part in promoting safety & social distancing.

We appreciate you & your group supporting the museum and are so very sorry that we must cancel this event.  IF you do end up rescheduling the entire convention for 2021 or beyond, please keep us in mind, we would love to have you all join us during better times.  We hope you will keep us in mind for other events." - Julie Lahr

Keep your fingers crossed!

Greetings.

As I've stated before, Pete and I have stayed in continual contact with the Sheraton Westport Chalet regarding the status of the BritishV8 2020 in regards to restrictions that the State and City/County may have our participants.....the following is what we received from Nancy Masterson of the Sheraton on Friday:

"Rick and Pete:

Thanks for keeping me in the loop. Here are my thoughts and what I know as of today:

· Missouri is scheduled to open up for Business on Monday 5/4... Good news.

· However, St. Louis and St. Louis County are still under "Safe/Stay at Home order" and will not open up with the rest of the state on Monday. ... because our area was hit the hardest with the virus.

· The County Executive is planning to update the situation no later than mid-May if not sooner.

· From what I'm reading, we are 2-3 weeks behind the rest of the state, thus should be open for business by the 25th at the very latest.

· We are cutting it really short and I don't know how long you want to hang on to make a decision??

· Of course, we are "all in" if we can make it happen for you but at this point you would be able to cancel without penalty under the impossibility clause.

· If that's your decision, we would love for you to reschedule at another time or another year, but that's not required.

· With the opening of the state there are still restrictions on gathering and this is going to come in 3 phases. The first phase would last one month ( where we would be during your events) and people still need to be 6 feet apart. We can make that happen out by the cars but I would need to find out what restrictions might be in the hospitality room and also for the dinner.

· Not sure what all of this would look like but I think everyone will need to wear masks wherever you might go in the city??

Let me know your thoughts and we will follow your lead. If you do want to proceed I will start the process of seeing what the restrictions might be.

Thanks so much and have a great weekend.
Cheers, Nancy"

Based on these comments...and the continued unknown status of things in general, we have decided to cancel the event.

Sorry. We are ALL disappointed.

Pete and I appreciate the fact that the Sheraton has released us from our obligations found in our contract, so the event, nor the organizers, nor any of the participants will experience any out-of-pocket losses.

We also appreciate how you ALL stuck with us through this in the hope that we would be able to hold BritishV8 2020 this summer.
The Sheraton will be cancelling each of your personal room reservations and will send a confirmation email to you advising same.

As work has already begun on the printing and embroidery of our regalia items, I will pick these items up from the store and mail them to you.

I will also process event registration refunds...through PayPal if that is how you paid or via check if you used this payment option.
Both the mailing of regalia and the processing of refunds will take place later this month.

BritishV8 2021 will be held hosted by Mike Moor and Jim Miller in Auburn, Indiana from Tuesday, June 1st through Friday, June 4th next year. This is a great venue with a LOT of automotive history and attractions to be found. I know that you will NOT want to miss it. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

We will give thought to holding BritishV8 2022 in St.Louis the following summer. Please give us your thoughts.

Again....sorry for the disappointing news....but we feel it best for all involved.

Safety/Faster!!!
