Just wondering if anyone was able to keep the stock clutch TR6 master and slave cylinder and actuate the T5 clutch with the stock clutch push rod. Do they line up pretty close? Also anyone sell a TR6 speedo to T5 adaptor.? I know that Dupont engineering used to sell a T5 kit for the triumph but I can not recall is they sold a mechanical speedo adaptor. Tried getting on his website but seems to have server issues. TIA

I cannot help you with your technical questions. A guy on the 6-Pack forum was asking about conversion to an overdrive and one of the forum members posted this info:

"A guy in our club, who was a dealer mechanic back in the day, has a small shop in SE Wisconsin. He has converted at least 10 4 speeds to overdrives, both A and J, for members of our club and others, to rave reviews. He also has built some for Triumph racers, and they are equally pleased. I believe his pricing is a bit more easy to handle than Quantum.

If you are interested in contacting him, his name is Steve Yott. His contact info is:

Silver Lake TRiumph Center
262-885-4885
tr4@wi.rr.com

He is also a 6-Pack member.

NFI Good luck."

If you have no luck with Quantum maybe you can consider the above source for an overdrive conversion.

Thanks Byron for the info. Much appreciated. I guess I should be more clear by saying the t5 is going behind a 2.3l ford SVO  motor that I have rebuilt. I know others have installed it with a hydraulic throw out bearing and electronic speedo. Just wondering if anyone installed a T5  using the stock hydraulic clutch push rod and stock speedo. Cheers and thanks again.

Now that you have clarified the issue we can give you some ideas that will work.
I assuming that you are using a bell housing from an SVO Mustang.  If this is the case you should be able to use an external slave.
I would advise not to go with a HTOB as they can be a real headache if they go south on you, you end up having to pull the transmission.
If you look at the following: http://www.britishv8.org/Triumph/JaySmith.htm
Jay Smith used a cable on his TR4 to operate the clutch, So it would be no problem to use an external slave.  The TR6 slave might have enough movement in it to work the clutch .
You also could send a pm to Jay as he probably has used a mechanical drive for his speedometer.
I hope this has helped you.

Thanks Byron,
The bell housing and transmission are from a 93 mustang 5.0 mounted with an adaptor plate to the 2.3 l so I can run a 10.5 inch clutch as opposed to the 7.5 inch originally on the  2.3. I certainly will drop Jay a note thanks again for your help. Cheers. And sorry about the confusion.

How about some pictures.

I run a stock TR6 clutch mc to my t56 6 speed transmission, but it is using a stock t56 htob, which probably doesn't help you any. So a stock TR6 clutch mc should work ok with your t5 I would  believe.

thanks. finally got the pictures to work. here is the picture of the trans adapter, diff and engine. turbo is a t3/t40e. i have a custom made plenum for the the TB ready to be welded up once the engine is in the TR and i know the clearence issues with the intercooler piping. Computer control will be an older megasquirt unit. thanks to Dale Knapke for his advice.

I have a Mcleod HTOB that was used on T5 in my TVR with the stock TR6 master.  Speedway and others sell more cost effective bearing kits as well.  I've never had any trouble with it and will be using it again behind a 5.0.  These guys do mechanical speedo conversions for the T5, including the S10 tail housing http://www.t5cablespeedometer.com

Great thanks for the link. Looks like a can retain the stock speedo.
