1990 3.9/auto county application

Is this motor stand alone, i.e. will it bolt to my SD1 transmission? I have been told tnat after a certain year, these v8's are wired to the transmission and can't be used without them.  ( I know there has to be many threads on this. I tried to search the forums, but I get only "loading" and a Google search gets me 10,000 hits.)

I could believe that you'd need a workaround to make the trans work properly without talking to the engine ecu, but the engine not working standalone? Piffle.
