installing MGB GT door window seals

My new rubber seals want to fold over on themselves when I crank the windows down...

I guess they'll harden up over time, but I'm wondering if there's some sort of lubricant I can apply to the seals so the window glass doesn't tug on them so much. Or maybe there's a better idea.

Can you share a clue with me?

I wonder if rain-X would help on the window? Or how about using some wax paper, pull your seal away from the window and rub the wax on the seal? Amaz Sealer would probably work better than rain-x on the window, it has some silicone in the sealer.

Just some brain storming, they might sound weird but might work!

I will bring some Amaz sealer to the meet for you to try Curtis.

I had some Rain-X on the shelf, so I applied that to the glass today.  I also applied a little WD-40 to the rubber seals. I think the passenger side seal is sliding a little better, but the driver side seal is still sticking (and folding over) pretty bad. I'm concerned that the seals will tear if I don't find a way to reduce the grip.

I suspect these new (made in China) seals were made with a stickier rubber formulation than MG used back in the day. I really hate the idea of Chinese parts on my car. When I saw the made-in-China label, I should have sent these seals back to the vendor.

Still looking for ideas.

I've used plain silicone spray on the vertical window channels of my truck - definitely helps that condition....how about talcum powder?
I'm assuming that you are talking the bottom scraper seal - you might have to be patient and let it mature/cure and take a set.

I applied graphite yesterday, and it seems to be much more effective than the WD-40 (at least until it gets washed away) but where it got on the outside of the rubber it's shiny.

I have the same problem. Installed new seals last week. Did you get the issue resolved?

yep. graphite worked nicely. didn't try talcum powder, but that might be a little less messy.

I installed new seals in the fall I think, they do get better after a few weeks, until then I kept putting silicone oil on them and I let them sit in the sun for a while, that helped a lot. They are fine now, no issues and havent had any in a long time with them.
