How much coverage can I expect from a QT of paint?  I'm  looking at using Southern Polyurethanes.  I'm going to call them next week, but I'd like some feedback on your experiences.

You will need more than a quart unless you are just doing a few panels or one end of the car maybe. I buy a gallon, but if you are doing everything, top, bottom, inside and out even that may not be enough.

Jim is right, why take a chance on not having enough,, ironically the gallon price is cheaper per quart (usually) but you don't get a full gallon either (usually). Buying a quart here and there could result in a mismatch(poor mixing) and you will play hell trying to get them to correct any mistakes on anyones part.

You will be able to easily paint the entire car with 3 quarts of paint.  If you are planning on having the car finished with clearcoat you can get by with 2 good coats of base coat.  If you are not going  with clearcoat then you should go with 3 good coats of base coat.

Thanks guys.  It's an MGB-LE and I need to do the exterior.

The Florida and Colorado sun has completely oxidized  the exterior, the undercarriage is fine, the tub floors need done.  .I'm going with a black base coat/clear coat.  I found a local fellow that will cut me a stencil for the stripes so they can be painted instead of being appliqued.    The engine compartment will be a dark gray just so I can get some light in there.

This gives me an idea of what I need to order.  I wasn't thinking of ordering a single quart, just trying to get and idea on how many square feet it would cover.
