How DO you get them off, without cutting/ruining ? Rears have that similar metal "bead" at the seam, as MGB's. Anybody ? Thanks, roverman.

Hey Art, how are the fenders held on? Are you saying they are welded on and not bolted?Tim

Bill Young

Art, I'm afraid that they are spot welded to the body structure along those seams and in the case of the MGB or Midget there isn't enough room to drill them out so you have to cut them off. It will take body work. You can either cut it off below the seam and just butt weld the panel back on or use an air chisle to split the seam and then metal work the flanges flat again before welding. Not easy either way. If there's any trace of rust along the moulding then I'd go for the air chisel so that you could clean up the rust before you repaint the car.

Sounds like friction cut-off/plasma cutter., no easy way-out here. I suspect a good idea to "cage" car before removing fenders,(flexi-flyer).  Onward, roverman.
