Title: Buick 215 V-8 bellhousing ID help needed.
Post by: Efil Redir on April 06, 2026, 09:21:35 AM
I have the opportunity to purchase a complete driveline from a local gentleman. He has a 215 Buick V-8 with an attached S-10 5-speed transmission complete as removed from a running vehicle. He showed me a video of this driveline running in his vehicle so I'm pretty excited about possibly purchasing it for either the MGA or MGB that I have. The engine and transmission are easy to identify, but the bellhousing has proven a bit more difficult. There are numerous pictures online but none seem to match the one he has. The closest I've found is an "aftermarket" for a large pattern T-5 but it's not an exact match. Not that it really matters but I would still like to know.

Here is a picture of what he has.

As I posted on MGExp this morning:

The bellhousing looks to be the fully round (vs bottom half open) aftermarket bellhousing made by Trans-Dapt. Much stronger than OEM.

The S10 T-5 you are not going to want to use. It is weaker, has the wrong gearing & shifter placement for a B. Not sure about an A.
