Title: New Tiger & Alpine?
Post by: rlance on January 26, 2009, 10:01:32 AM
All

I would like you to post information on your sight asking the following question: "How much would Tiger and Alpine enthusiasts pay for a totally new Tiger or Alpine?" Totally original dimensions with improvement on deficiencies, either purchased as a kit (body shell only) or complete vehicle (choice of 260, 289, 302 w/a 4 or 5 speed).

I am trying to gauge the market potential before I make an investment in the venture.

Thank you.

Devil's in the detail on a question like that... I'd think something along the lines of a kit using modernized chassis along the lines of the Factory Five & similar Cobra kits would command similar prices -- lower demand but similar prices.  But, note that the Cobra kits took off more when they were modified enough to make them more drivable -- including subtle size changes -- and more of a 'bolt together' kit rather than one that requires fabrication & sourcing a lot of parts.  Oh, and check out the thread where somoene posted some pics showing a 10-15% width stretch that'd probably fit in the 'improvement on the original' idea & may make use of existing C4 vette type suspensions more viable.

my personal opinion is i would opt for a rolling chassis in primer with improved front suspenion and steering, but you could offer it in any stage of completion? list some prices?

My thought on the project is this:  Sell as a shell (in primer), a rolling chasis (w or w/o specified motor/tranny) in primer or complete.  In addition, would sell various panels.

Improvements on front suspension and unibody strength, cooling etc... would be addressed. I would like to copy what Beck has done for the 550 Spyder - vehicles produced would be registered as a 1965 or 66.

Price:  That is why I am posting.  I see Tigers going as high as $50-60,000.00 in perfect condition.  I am looking for enthusiasts opinions and feedback.  You would be the market, therefore your voice counts.

Thanks for the help.

Steel rolling shell assembled with all new parts: 15-20k.  That's just my guesstimate with lack of many details.  I'm gauging that on the fact the the FFR cobra goes for 13k in kit form and with a fiberglass body.
