Title: Retrofitting a Carb and dizzy to a efi Thor 4.6 v8
Post by: woodbeare1 on November 14, 2020, 09:24:19 AM
Hi, I'm at the start of a project, and have a couple of choices I have an Ex-SD1 3.5l with edelbrock carb and manifold and an ex-discovery 4.6l with the Thor fuel injection system but no loom or ECU. I wanted to transplant the carb on to the 4.6 but the 4.6 has no dizzy, I've taken off the front cover  but the 4.6 cam has no dizzy drive on the camshaft and the shaft itself is shorter than the 3.5l cam.
Will swapping camshafts work or should I look for an aftermarket cam with a dizzy drive??

Yes new cam, timing cover and oil pan with the old carb manifold dizzy etc. Worked fine for me over 10 years.. Then switched back to EFI 14 CUX version on mine. Or back date yours to the 14CUX manifold etc. Or stay distributorless and use mega jolt for ignition, carb manifold.

And a pulley spacer for the long nose crank?
