Due to conflict with Falcon Club, the yearly meet will occur at the end week-end of Sept. at The Talley Ho. Hope all Hotel booking have been made accordingly. See you there!
September 26, 27 and 28...
Who's planning on attending? For a change, Jim and Melinda Watson would like to host the Friday night hamburger event. Still $10 per person, including trimmings and soft drinks. They're in Maryville, and a nice drive from Townsend. We'll need a headcount, so let us know.
By the way, the new section of the Foothills Parkway is open; some great views from up there.
Mickey
Great News! . Sandy & I plan to attend. How about Jim & Melinda's address to mail the checks? Thanks Mickey.
HA! That would help, wouldn't it?
Their address is 3657 Wildwood Rd., Maryville TN 37804
Kay and I will be attending...the good lord willing!
I'll be there too, but, alas, without a BritishV8.
Margaret and I will be there for burgers .
Steve
Jean and I will be there.
Will mail funds to Jim and Melinda.
Mary and I plan on being there.
Count me in! Can't wait........
Mike
I plan on attending. Looking forward to it.
I will arrive in Townsend late Thursday afternoon.
Talley Ho & away we go! :)
BTY, which night? Friday or Sat. Night? Forgot to post that info. Infalibe, I think not. 🤔

So far, I have a count of 18, assuming Dan Masters, Mike Moor, Jim Miller and Carl Floyd are coming solo. Others?
I expect Rich & Lorna Moor will be joining us.
Hello all, Suzy and I have decided to attend. Will get there on Thursday--could be late in the evening. Never been to one of these. Sounds like fun. Like Dan Masters, we will not have a British V8 but will bring the HOT ROD CHRYSLER 300. See ya soon. Can I pay whoever when I get there? Or should I send a check?
Jim and Suzy Johanski
Hey, Jim - glad you both can make it! You can either send Jim Watson a check at the address above or pay when you get here.
That makes 22 so far. Anyone else?
Mickey
It appears our British V8 Group does not discriminate. I drove my Toy Camry to the Meet in Wytheville. I suspect you could even fly in and rent a car and be welcome. Our Group is a friendly bunch of men and women. Wives enjoy visiting with their counterparts when we gather. Glad you will attend. Have a Dickel Good Time!
Will be great seeing you and Suzy, John!
Jean and I will probably arrive mid to late Thursday afternoon.
Rick, Thanks for the welcome. Will the Roadmaster be there?
Folks -
The gathering is in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to seeing y'all again.
Though we don't plan any activities, other than the Friday night cookout, here are a couple of drives to consider:
One is the new portion of the Foothills Parkway that connects Hwy. 321 near Walland/Townsend to Wear's Valley Rd. There is a drive from there back to Walland that has some nice scenery. And, of course, you can take Foothills Pkwy. over to the Tail of the Dragon and have your picture made while demonstrating your/your car's prowess. ;-)
The other is a drive I'd never known of before, but was recently posted by one of the local clubs. It's called the Devil's Triangle (also known as the Little Dragon), and here's a club member's description:
"This is a 44-45 mile trip through some seriously twisty and fun mountain roads. 'They' (the highway department) have fixed/paved the washouts so it is fun running now! It runs on Hwy's 116, 330, and 62, and passes by Brushy Mountain Prison. It does have 3 MAJOR 180 degree switch-backs that go uphill, and many other consecutive curves, the kind of road that sports cars were made for!!"
Here is a MAP (link) of the triangle:

So, a couple of suggestions for ya. See ya soon!
Mickey
Plus, some great hiking trails!
"Will the Roadmaster be there?"
Seriously highly doubt it. Rick currently has it in Illinois. It will be a 1000 mile round trip for Rick & Jean for a 3 day weekend getaway in Townsend, TN.
One place for a short hike we may want to check out is Look Rock Tower. It's on the Foothills Parkway.
http://www.smokies.ws/lookrock/
Laurel Falls is another location. It's off Little River Road
https://www.google.com/search?q=laurel%20falls%20trail
Bald River Falls is near the Cherohala Skyway

Brenda & PJ plan to attend, check for Friday will be mailed tomorrow, civilian car oh well at least we'll be there.
Good to hear, PJ! Looking forward to seeing y'all!
Headcount for the cookout so far:
Watsons
Richauds
Stevensons
Maloneys
Dan Masters
DeGroats
Ingrams
Schils
Mike Moor
Jim Miller
Carl Floyd
Moors
Johanskis
Lenihans
Anyone else?
Max Fulton?
Max is not yet sure when he will be arriving. May be late Friday.
Weather is looking good for the gathering.
Weather has been GREAT.
Tail of the Dragon and the Cherahola Skyway yesterday.
Some of the group went hiking today while the rest of us drove the Missing Link of the Foothills Parkway.
These three days go too quickly!
Next year....save the first weekend of October for the Townsend Gathering!
And make your reservations at the Talley Ho NOW!
Great barbecue and fellowship tonight! Safe travels for all tomorrow.
Didn't happen without pics! ;)
Mary and I arrived home at 8:30 last night. Thanks to everyone who made the trip as it was great seeing everyone again, especially PJ and Brenda. What a group to be a proud member in.
A special thanks to Mickey and Jim for the organizing the cookout. Folks here think we're crazy for driving 700 miles each way for a Friday night BBQ, but I think it was well worth it.
See you next year the 1st week of October.
Paul and Mary
Great seeing all of you again!
