Will do. I am just north of Atlanta, Georgia.
Back in the day...I would put qty. (2) rear mains caps together(mating surfaces together). I would then rough machine a counter bore, about .020" undersize ? Load the correct cap in the block and use a Kwik Way boring bar to bring in final diameter( late Rover seal). In other words, I used an aluminum plate mounted on back of block. to mount the Kwik Way securely. Onward, art.
I assume that the 2 iron caps together was to insure an accurately machined round hole. So how do you guarantee that the finished cut is truly concentric with the rear main??? I've heard that trying to bore a hole into 1/2 iron and 1/2 aluminum can throw the cutting tool off center.
What is the final hole diameter compared to the Rover seal; how much crush do we give the seal???
