Title: Wanted: Rover 4.6 water pump core
Post by: RDMG on June 06, 2017, 08:41:52 PM
If anyone has these around, I'd like to hear from you.

I need to pressure test my block, and have no water pump at all.  Would prefer to not buy a new one until I know the engine is good.

No need for a water pump when you're doing a pressure test.
Just grab a piece of rigid material big enough to cover the water pump port into the block.
You can use metal, plastic, fiber board or whatever else that is on hand.
Drill a couple of holes in it to match the block, give it a skim of silicone sealer and bolt it on.
The rover blocks are divorced side to side so you can test one side at at time.
The same thing is done to the two ports on the block deck.
One of the three "plates" will need a pressure port drilled into it to introduce pressurized air.
Easy peazy.

Cheers
Fred

Good to know-- thanks!  I assumed the pressure required to test was higher, needing stronger materials.
