Title: TA Heads
Post by: 302GT on March 16, 2016, 01:16:00 PM
The V8 owners forum (British) has a report on mildly ported (stock valves) TA Rover heads. The heads flow about double that of stock 4.6 heads and better than ported Buick 300 heads (although they may not have been the ultimate Buick 300 heads).

Those are my heads that are covered here in this post: http://forum.britishv8.org/read.php?6,54437

Jon got somewhat better flow numbers on the test Buick 300 head I sent him but was getting close to the water jacket.  The heads we ended up porting were really nice examples with no corrosion but I didn't want to push the limits of the casting so we were a bit conservative on them.  Still, 200 CFM intake and 150 CFM exhaust with good low lift flow isn't too shabby for Buick 300 heads.  BTW, I've been in touch with a guy who has a set of the Jon Eales maximum porting effort Rover heads and he is going to send me the flow sheet on those.  I'll post the numbers when I get them.

That's great Dan. I'm sure we all appreciate your hard work.

BTW, that thread has a good picture of the type of valley cover required for the TA Rover heads.  I need to make something similar.  Looks like he had his rolled to get the arc required:

When I bought my heads from TRS (Australia) they supplied me with the alloy gasket, !
Shame TA can't do the same
