Just to make sure we're all on the same page: the meet will be the first FULL weekend in October, which will be Thursday, Oct 6 through Sunday, Oct 9. Rooms are blocked out for that weekend. Mention British V8 to get the reduced rate.
For those who are not familiar with this meet, it is an INFORMAL gathering of hot-rodded British sports car enthusiasts, with no plans, no schedule, no registration, no fees, just a bunch of good ole boys (and girls) hanging out, having a good time. Come on down and join us.
We'll be at the Tally Ho inn, about two miles from the Smoky Mountains. Call 865-448-2465 for reservations.
Should we get bored, there are two (2) Craft Beer Tap rooms nearby. One is Bluetick Brewery in Maryville, and Smokey Mountain Brewery & Brew Pub in Maryville, Another is located in Walland, but has no tasting Room (UGH). Knoxville has several; plus they are w/i 30 miles of Townsend. These are optional things to consider plus Townsend now has a Winery as you enter from Maryville on the right . See you all in the Fall. Probably see you in May for the Annual Meet. (Formal if you know what we mean :-).
We visited the Smokey Mountain Brew Pub in October 2014. It was....EXCELLENT.

Getting close - who's coming? Anyone want to do some jamming?
Hope to see you all there in Oct. Room booked, practice trip planned to Dillard in Sept. SAFETY FASTER!
I expect to be there.
Jim
I hope to be there, as well. No practice, Mickey. :(
I'll be there. Ted and Judy are coming.
Perk and I plan to be there.
Kelly, guess we will see you guys in Dillard. Been going to that show for bout 20 years.
Kay and I are booked..see you all there!
Look fwd to seeing you & perky at Dillard. Haven't been in a very long time (1993), but sure we will enjoy it.
Dillard is a great venue for a car show!
I may show up in a C4 Coupe as I'm driving this 1986 corvette from OR to NC about that time.
Oh, the shame of it ;).
Me and the missus will be there to ogle, take pics and get ideas. Also, drink beers with you fine folk if you don't mind.
Tim
Tim, we look fwd to seeing both of you. You and missus will have a great time and make MANY new Friends. This group has rarely met a stranger. See you all soon
Tim!
It will be great to meet you in person.
You will find this weekend to be very laid-back.
Glad you are joining us, Tim! It's always a great time just hangin' with the V8/V6 family!
Tim, you live in the Waynesville area don't you? Look forward to meeting you!
The time is creeping up to the Fall Event. Thur. Oct. 6 thru Sun. 9h has been marked on calendar for LONG time. Look fwd. to seeing the Brit V8 Family in Townsend. BTY, other power trains are welcome :-)
Had to share this with the group. Who'd have thunk you would see this in Gahanna Ohio? This was in The Barn restaurant......great place to eat if you're ever in the area, FYI.

On a related note, I won't be able to make the Fall Gathering this year unfortunately. I'll miss seeing everyone.
Scott, that will get Kelly's salivary glands working overtime. :-)
Yep, Saw the Dickel in the "Place of Honor". Went in a Hotel Bar in Ashville NC, way back when, asked for Dickel. They came out with the White Label Bottle, I exclaimed "I'm in a CLASS PLACE!" Dickel wasn't available in too many place then. Pjil's tuned in.
Too Bad, Scott, we will miss you
Less than 30 days until kick off at Townsend. Oct.6th BE THERE
Also... Rick has called for a meeting of B.A.D.A.S.S. members. Another reason to come.
Jim
I'm hoping to be there, but have not made definite plans yet due to family commitments on the west coast. I was planning a cross country drive in my 86 C4 but that is now not likely so If I fly home it's much more likely that I'll get back east in time to drive over the mountains from Winston-Salem to TN.
Are there any spare beds available for last minute deciders?
Hope to see ya'll in Townsend.
My youngest son is getting married Sat 9-17-16 in Port Townsend, WA near Seattle.
I'll also be spending time with my latest grandson, 7 month old Maxwell Lenihan, in southern OR. We fly out in west 2 days.

For those who are coming to the meet, there's a cruise-in on Friday night in Clinton, about an hour's drive from here. Here's the info sheet on it; apparently have to pre-register:

PJ,
Coming on in! We'll save you a spot in the house.
Mike
thank you Mike Moor, i hope to be there
Let us know, PJ. You may can have your own room upstairs on the left.
I'll be there. Dan is coming. Probably not anyone else from the Blackwoods but you never know.
Jim
I'm bringing the new spare wheel for the Roadmaster....it's from an XK8, so it should match....no more Camaro wheel!
Rick, should I bring a Jaguar Patch for the driver? :-)
Current weather forecast calls for sunny days; highs around 80 degrees; lows in the mid to upper fifties; 10-20% chance of rain. PERFECT!
I'll bring the rebuilt steering column so we can return it.
Jim
Reminder! Charles, don't forget the "Apple Pie"
This stuff?
OSM_apple_pie_705.png
Mickey. I don't think Charles's was sealed and taxed, :-)
See you guys there
Looks like I'm good to go one more dentist to see Tuesday 10-2-2016, it's been a b**ch with this failed root canal, extraction, infection, dry socket two courses of antibiotics all right already no more health complaining!!
I'm gonna do my best to arrive Friday mid-afternoon and wish to stay in the house, any old spot will do..
Should I bring a sleeping bag??
Peak Roadmeister
Looks like PJ already started his pain meds... Tuesday is 10/4 ;)
PJ,
As long as we have beds, you won't need any sleeping gear.......except your PJs. ;)
Rich & Mike Moor will know the head count. I think there is plenty of room.
For those who are on the fence about coming this week, current weather forecast promises to be a fantastic weekend! Colors are starting to change; got some red and yellow on our property, and we can just begin to see some great color on the mountains. Here's a view from the webcam set up at Look Rock, a few miles from the Talley Ho on the Foothills Parkway:

See you all Thursday PM. Charles, you just have to run in Stealth Mode and on one can detect you :-) An old Bond trick.
I plan to arrive somewhere around the 3-4pm window.

Pj
Knowing our unpredictable travel history...I am playing it safe and saying Kay and I will be there @ 5-6 pm...
I'm going for Thursday...
I'm starting to get depressed now. I'd be leaving in the morning if I could go. It's such a fun laid back event! Really wish I could be there! Hope everyone has a great time!

oh how things can change:
My bags were packed and my MGB was prepped and hours before my planned departure for a 6 hour back roads drive, what should occur bur my lovely wife had an accident and damaged her left eye.
10 hours of doctors and hospitals later Brenda is expected to fully recover; however, she needs help as the eye is covered and she is supposed to chill not drive, and rest REST rest.
Geez life is like a bowl of cherries to quote Forest Gump.
Anyway we return to the Opthamoligist Doc at noon Friday 10-7-2016 we'll see what he has to say.
My stoic wife is telling me she's OK and That I should jump in the BGT and drive west even if it's just for one night. .. ... .... she's a supportive of this gear head!!! It's possible that I MIGHT LEAVE HOME at 4 am on Sat.10-8 and attempt to arrive in Townsend for the RM breakfast meeting. At that time of day I should make it a fast drive, it all depends on today's visit to the eye Doc.
OK that's all folks. Ya'll have fun..

Oh MAN, PJ - sorry to hear. Do hope your wife's recovery is swift. Stoic and supportive is right; take care of that lady!
Mickey
You guys have gone quiet... Must be having too much fun!
I'll 2nd the well wishes for your wife PJ.
The weather at the fall get together has been exceptional...sunny, slight breeze, temperatures in the high 70"s....as usual, friendships have been made, and renewed..it is a delight to see our old friends! Last night visited a local cruise-in at a mall parking lot in Maryville/Alcoa..the usual participants were delighted to see a bunch of modifed British cars....from there went on to eat at Aubreys a local, dining establishment...very little structure to these get togethers, which is exactly the way we like it..most folks just do "their own thing" during various times of the day, but always find time to return to the parking lot for talking about the cars...and of course, a beer or two!
ill have adequate wifi and some time upon my return home to post a photo so until then just a quick note to say this is a great gang to hang out with and a very nice time of the year to be in the smokey mats.
the tail was good today too.
PJ Lenihan
So good to see everyone, and the weather was outstanding. (Well, except for yesterday morning's showers...)
Thanks to all for being here, and a special thanks to Charles Long for the donation for burgers last night.
Looking forward to W. Virginia!
Mickey
Great weather and renewed friendships, was like a "Family Reunion". Really good turnout and people from all over the East, some had to contend with escapees from "Hurricane Mathew." Townsend was quite and not overcrowded, but a lot going on. Ate breakfast on Sat. AM with Marilyn & Merv at "Riverstone Rest.", a "quite" and excellent place to have a good breakfast, Locals dine here as evidenced by the crowded parking lot with Blount County tags. The prices are reasonable and service great. No, we did not get a free meal to promote this :-). Reservations made for next Oct., the 9th Fall Gathering. Y'all Come.
One thing about driving topless, you get to enjoy all sorts of "aromas" This song came up in the parking lot in Townsend. Here ya go, Mike Maloney. :)

Jean and I had a blast!
I got a lot of video on my phone, but my GoPro crashed and I lost all of the Foothills Parkway/Tail of the Dragon video I shot on both days.
Food was great.
Visiting with friends was great.
Daily travels were great.
Moonshine tasting was great.
Special thanks out to Dan Masters (and Christa), Jim Watson (and Melinda), Mickey Richaud (and Janet), and Charles Long (and Perky) for their assistance throughout the weekend!
Jean has already made our reservation at the Tally Ho for next year!
The 2017 Talley Ho dates are October 5, 6, and 7. The wise thing to do is make your reservations now for next year (Talley Ho was completely booked during our stay) If schedule conflicts arise, you can always cancel. Thanks to Dan and Jim for making this event so successful...also to Mickey and Janet for making their lovely home avaiable for the Saturday night cookout...what a great time it was!
Wish I'd had my camera out; nobody's posted any pictures yet. But it was a great time.
By the way, forgot to mention earlier that someone left a small styrofoam cooler at the house Saturday night. Will be happy to return it if you want it. (Alas, the couple of bottles of Stout that were in it have perished...)
Mickey
The styrofoam cooler with Guinness and Left Hand Brewery Milk Stout was mine Mickey...left it there for someone to enjoy..glad it went to a good home...
Yeah, that bear really enjoyed it! ;-)
Would that be Mickey Bear?
I know you have seen the front of your place, but never like this.
Thanks Janet and Mickey.
