I've got a TR6 that I'm working on and the stock TR6 steering wheel is very smooth from years of wear and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to make it more sticky again??
You could buy a new skin for it. I saw a thread on the 6-pack.org about a guy that bought a new skin and put it on his steering wheel.

Interesting thought. Alum is an astringent, haven't heard of it used for that, curious what it does.

The wheel most likely has a build up of oils and dirt from the usual use.
So Alum should work but no idea what would happen to the foam wheel rim.
ZEP purple degreaser would probably remove it.
It's available @ Home Depot.
Ultimately though, the best fix would probably be to recover it.
It's actually easy to do and you end up with a custom leather steering wheel.
I use old leather jackets from the thrift store and some heavy upholsterers cord.
Might end up costing $10 or $15 dollars and you have enough soft, closed grain leather to have a few goes at it.

I got a psuedo leather wrap from Canadian Tire years ago and put it on mt TR2 and it looks fine But I feel it would look tacky on the 6Maybe an old leather jacket is in my future
You can order just about any type of wrap on line that will solve your problem. I have a stainless steel banjo steering wheel on my custom and was able to find a leather wrap that matches the upholstery. It works like a champ!
