QuoteMake plans now to attend the Fifth Annual "October in Townsend" informal Fall Gathering of V8, V6, I4, I6 and other performance enhanced British car aficionados at the Talley Ho Inn, Townsend, TN, October 1-4. Note that we've added a day this year, by popular demand, arriving Thursday evening and leaving Sunday morning. Of course, you're welcome to come early and leave late if you wish, or come late and leave early if that's all your schedule will allow. Rooms at the Talley Ho Inn have been blocked out for us for arrival on either the 1st or the 2nd. (Note: Talley Ho is full. See post below for more info.)
Motel contact info: [www.talleyhoinn.com] 1-800-448-2465 or 865-448-2465 Mention British V8 and/or Jim Watson to get a reduced rate.
Our plans/schedule/registration data: Show up, have a great time, go home, with a heavy emphasis on "have a great time." This is a strictly informal, make it up as we go, type of event. The only thing for sure is you will have a lot of fun with a bunch of great people, drive on a bunch of great sports car type roads with great scenery, consume some great beverages, and eat some great food.
Any questions, contact me via PM or Jim at spridget@charter.net

Talley Ho Inn is full! Need to book another hotel....any suggestions?
Yes. There is Ford Falcon group at the Talley Ho.
Jim Watson says to book a room at the Townsend Gateway Inn next door. It is just on the other side of the Carriage House restaurant.

Sounds like we need to up the room block for 2016.
Glad we booked our room last October.
Townsend Gatway full, I got a room at Rivestone Lodge 865-448-6677 $80 a nite. They are located close to the KOA and next door to a eatery.
There may be some space available at the house that Rich Moor always reserves. Only two full baths (plus half bath upstairs), though, so we have to share them.
I don't know if I can come or not may be mid Sept B4 I know, I'll bring a tent ha ha
Hi all i want to try to make it on Friday my car club Plateau British Car Club is attending a car show at the Allardt TN pumpkin fest on Sat. and to the German restaurant for Oct fest. any ideas what maybe happening Friday and what time?
This is a "make it up as you go" event, nothing is planned at all.
There is a weekly cruise-in at the Foothills mall every Friday evening, so that is a possibility.
ok thank you keep me posted about Friday
Looking forward to it, especially since it's in my backyard! :-)

FYI, the Townsend Gateway Inn had a wedding cancel so they have rooms available if anyone is in need. It's right next door to the Talley Ho.

So did I, and Ted and Judy Lathrop also have a room there.
Here's an interior view of the restaurant. Looks like good old country cooking.

I reserved a room at the Riverstone Lodge this morning for $79. They still have vacancies, as does the Highland Manor ($89). Townsend Gateway said they had nothing available.
Question about the Fall Gathering. Do you ever send the British V8 events to the Moss Motoring Event Calendar? Might be a way to generate more interest in our hobby.
Here is the link for submissions: http://www.mossmotoring.com/addyourevent/

P. S. Does anybody know from Senneker Performance will be in attendance?
The Fall Gathering is an informal GT (get together) of friends. It is not a full blown Meet. Come on down & visit us!
What Carl said. The "formal" V8 meet will be held in Townsend in May, and information will be be posted on various sites.Registration forms and schedule will be posted on this site, under "meetings," later this year as details are finalized.
For more info about the May meet - http://forum.britishv8.org/read.php?10,52374
I don't think the Sennekers will be coming to the October get-together, but Ted Lathrop will be here to answer any questions you might have about Fast Cars products.
Thanks to Carl & Dan, I should have figured that out on my own. :)
Less than 30 days now! Hope cool weather is available for our dates :-)
QuoteP. S. Does anybody know from Senneker Performance will be in attendance?
I just got word today the Sennekers will be coming, Jr and Sr.
J.I.C. someone needs a Hotel room, someone update where and what is available please. Maybe we will attract new faces, most Falcons have a SBF that will fit a LBC:-)
2 weeks. Are you ready? see you Thursday 10/1/15
I'm ready Kelly!! I am really looking forward to driving the Tail of the Dragon. Anybody else want to do that?
QuoteI am really looking forward to driving the Tail of the Dragon. Anybody else want to do that?
That's guaranteed.
I'm for sure doing it!
Maybe I can get "Nigel" to perform on "the Dragon". Just need to know how it handles, Don't suppose Carl would agree to drive? :-)
Kelly, just what are you smoking, nothing you drink would cause a ? like that.
See you in a little.
No Smoke, but maybe Mescal. Potent Worm in the bottom once the Margarita is made. Carl has not chimed in, but maybe he will. Look fwd to seeing "The Gang". The Falcon guys intend to drive the Tail of the Dragon. Maybe we can give a few a ride :-) They all ready have the V8 power plant.
Reply from Killboy.com on our visit. The times seem reasonable? any thoughts differently? You guys Do Know How to USE their site to locate pics? Note time you see their photographers and go to their site in 3-4 days and ck that time frame. the Pics will be in the time frame under Cars section.
Hey Kelly,
Thanks for the advanced notice. We appreciate everyone's patronage and we will be sure to have guys out there covering the Dragon, typically from about 10am to 6pm. If you think you will be near or outside those times, let me know in advance and we can adjust accordingly.
Hey now, Charles. I heard that!
Kelly has already received the same excellent chauffeuring service that Ted experienced. While I do not believe I actually gave anyone a stroke, they both likely wet their pants! :)
I understand that at least one of the Falcon enthusiasts has already driven the Dragon and discovered the "Tree of Shame".

...And no wonder: appears to be right-hand-drive - must've been on the wrong side of the road!
No "PEE" here, I was too pleased with car's performance to be frightened:-). If Carl has the balls to drive like that, I had the balls to ride beside him. EXHILARATING was the word. Those were the "good ole days" and The Tail of The Dragon was not overcrowded and No Law were present. Now, one must follow too many rules.:-) see you next Thursday!
Looking for last minute accommodations at the Talley Ho?
We still have room at the Big House/ Moor Manor/Moor Mansion if any one needs a cheap, clean bed. We'll even leave the light on for ya. ;)
Forescast is not the greatest....but it will not inhibit our fun!
Bring appropriate clothing, etc!

My brother in Raleigh said constant moderate to heavy rain for days. How are you guys fairing in Townsend?
It's been raining the whole time! But didn't stop the group. Everyone's leaving this morning - been fun, y'all - see you in May!
Here are a couple of pictures - maybe Rick or someone else will post more.

Made it home no problems! I echo what Carl is saying, had a great time visiting with everyone! Believe it or not the most fun I had was working on my car with everyone! Told Randi about it once we got into Ohio. It was the right decision to not worry her. The weather on the drive back was fabulous.
Good seeing everyone!
You are a wise man Scott, A very wise man....
Perk and I made it home OK, drove in the rain all the way. Had a great time visiting and telling white lies and paying close attension to those told to me. Ate way to much.
Anyone heard from Steve?
Got to see some neat Falcons, some I think were left in the trailers.
Thanks to the the guys for the fine weather, at least there was no HAIL this time.
Will be there in May 2016.
Someone please advise if they have heard from Steve & Margaret. Lugoff is near Columbia where the flooding is occurring. Sandy & i had no trouble since middle Tn. is a "tad" lower than the mountains in East Tn. Memphis is the Flood Area as West Tn is Flat, Not mid west flat though. :-) Had a great time.
DeGroat update from FB

Kay and I Are in Waynesville, N.C., will be here a couple more days and then back to Ohio...weather is improving...
One would think the AIR in Waynesville NC is clear, but not as crisp as the AIR I breathe. "Rarefied" :-). Great to see you and Kay again!
The AIR that CAT owners breathe is always much sweeter and rarified....MG owners are condemned to breathe "ordinary" air..oh well, perhaps some day when I grow up.....chuckle....please say high to Sandy for us...
At least that is what those Jag snobs believe in their own minds. :)
Carl that should have read JAGUAR (pronounced JAG-U-WAR) snobs. Now isn't that much sweeter and more rarified.
Sure, Merv. You have to hang with us, since they won't let you in the Jag-u-war Snob Club anyway. :)
Pay attention to Merve, he's got it now and has reached cruising altitude. "You may unfasten you seat belts"! :-)
Come 0n Guys, give us a break~~~~~~
Kelly, you get a free pass. Now, Merv...........well, he'll never be a Jag snob with a 351 in a E-Type! :) Very Spurious!
As all Jag-u-war owners know, no American engine ever built can remotely come close to the Smooth, Refined Power of a Jag-u-war six. Never mind that the rarified air they breathe is known to occasionally cause light headedness.
Jim
IMO, nothing sounds as sweet as a Big Healey six, though!
