This winter Graham Creswick was doing a cowl induction hood scheme for his B he asked me about the scoop portion, well I had been thinking about that for awhile, well Graham got me off the dime and we did a scoop model off a partial shot from our RV8 hood and handed of a part to him and lo and behold here is his effort ( the beautiful red car). Well we did the same thing to a nice hood that I had and fabbed up the tooling, we were trying to get it done for the BRIT V8 show in Indy , so we just made it see you in Indy!!

That is so very nice!
Thanks Curtis, actually Graham has developed the true induction part IE connecttivity with carburation, maybe he will post some pics. We have not done any more than fabbing the hood itself I'm hoping for some suggestions at the V8 meet for a universal fitment of the actual inner structure making it a true cowl induction part.
Take care
Dave
Awesome! Now Graham will have room to get a proper 3" tall air filter in there.

Just bring me a hood. I don't need a functional cowl induction.

Yep, should be physically able to do that with this hood.....

I'm not a fan of bulges and scoops on the hood for engine clearance, I would prefer to lower the engine so the stock hood contour can be maintained. That said, that is the nicest looking "clearance" hood I have seen. Well done Dave.
I realize nobody much cares about my opinion here, having a reputation for cutting big gaping holes in the hood, but I'll post it anyway.
The stock MGB has nice lines, I don't think anyone can contest that. It's appearance is (or at least was, back in the day) associated with exceptional handling but not much in the way of power. The MGB that could keep up with a stock 289 Mustang for instance was an extremely rare animal. But if you like to drive a sleeper it is an excellent choice for the engine converter.
However, the "Power Bulge" has a long and respected history among european sports cars and is immediately seen by any as an indication of potentially greater power under the hood, whether it actually exists or not. This is especially true of the LBC category. In the US it is associated with performance upgrades and has been for decades, usually with some sort of an opening for ingesting cooler air and sometimes at a slightly higher pressure.
So it's not really much of a question of whether it is accepted or even desireable (obviously a personal choice) but more a matter of asking how much is too much. Almost anyone but a die-hard drag racer would agree that a 12" high snorkel scoop is excessive but somewhere between the two extremes is going to be a treatment that most will see as both acceptable and desirable. I think Graham and Dave have done a pretty good job of hitting that sweet spot. I think Bill Jacobson has it absolutely nailed, but that's a custom one-off that we're not likely to ever see again.
For me... well there's no point. You guys already know what I like.

Just for the record....

So that's a fiberglass part that you laid up?
Jim
If you're talking about the air cleaner plenum, then no, it's a sheet metal part with a push-on rubber edge.
That looks a million times better than I imagined! Not cause I didn't think you could do an awesome job, but I never like the under hood look of the Cowl Induction Camaros. So, when I finally could afford a real GM version to replace my old flat hood, I didn't make it functional.
The only real problem I see with that snazzy new hood is it looks like it means business. There ain't a whole lot of business going on under mine. :)
That's absolutely beautiful. I think it works well with the original lines of the design. Well done, Dave and Graham. Graham, did you revert to your wonderful Ferarri-style grille?

Yep, still there!

Look good to me, maybe we will get a nametag for Enzo Creswick? :-) "The Italian Scallion" Really sounds great in "Alabamanese"
Was it Ken Costello, that started the "egg crate grille", for B's ?

Costello definitely had an eggcrate grille in his early conversions....coincidentally, I was playing around in the late 60's with a Vega grille in my 'B'. Lousy photo of a photo but you get the drift.
