Hello all, ideas/opinions needed! I have what I thought was a straightforward project going. Have a built Buick 215 I got from a forum member who took it out of his MGB looking for something with more oomph. I want to swap this for the tired 3.5L in my stock '70 Rover 3500S. Since both are related you would think minimal mods needed...well, rats! The motor mounts are different, See pics. The oily one is the old motor. You can see all I need is a 3rd bolt hole..you think I can find anyone who can fabricate a bracket or wants to? Nooo! One guy thinks he can come up with something, but may be a 2-day job; at $100+ per hr I'm thinking thats an awful lot of folding green! Starting to think I should have just had the 3.5L rebuilt for what this is starting to cost...!

Is it me or is the 3.5 rightside-up and the buick is upside-down in those pics? Confusing!
You are right Ryan. Two different motor stands...! 3rd pic showing bolt hole needed toward bottom.

Wish you were a little closer, and I had some more time, we could together come up with something that would work for you.
That's a rather bizzarre mount actually, never seen anything quite like it.
But, if you add metal to the bottom to use all available bosses, perhaps the top can simply rest against the block. There also should be a fixturing lug a bit rorward of that which can be drilled and tapped.

I'd do a full mock-up before going much farther Jim.
Just to make sure that there are no further hick-ups.
As far as the mounts. Those early buicks usually had a couple of head bolts with a stud sticking out of them for various reasons.
I'd just move two of them around to the spots directly above the mounts and tab off of them.
Like Jim said add a strut to engage the other lower bolt boss. And you'll have a pretty strong mount.
