I have a Rover 3.9 from a 1991 Discovery the was destroyed in a side impact. Engine has 149,000 km's on it and was running well when removed.
I also have a LT77 5 speed gearbox which has been completely rebuilt and restored.
I have had a change in direction for my MGB restoration project and this power train is not satisfactory. I have over $1,500.00 in the gearbox alone. Would like to get $1,500 for the engine and gearbox.

Changed my mind again. I have decided to keep the 3.9 and LT77. I really don't need a rocket ship and I think these will do okay. Cost and the current economic state are forcing me to be realistic....boy, that sucks.

I think you'll be happy with the 3.9, Colin. I've got the 3.5 and LT77 in my MGB and loving it. Sure, one can always shoot for more power down the road and a lot can be done to these motors.
That was a great deal though for a complete engine and gearbox though.
