Title: 1972 Triumph Stag Chevy Conversion, HELP!!
Post by: Herman on May 01, 2014, 12:53:31 PM
I acquired a 72 Stag with a 350 chevy / Tremec 5speed conversion. The car ran fine and everything worked as it should. I can't leave well enough alone  so I began to tidy up/ redo many of the mods that were done. I pulled the motor / transmission and found the most horrific installation mods, i.e., motor mounts, clutch linkage, wiring, etc.etc. It must have been performed by MORONS. I would greatly appriciate pics, detailed info, from someone that has already performed this conversion the right way. Thanks

I haven't done that conversion but, I would look at Speedway Motors and Trans-dapt for mounts. There are 2 Chevy/Stag conversions on this site in the Photo Gallery.

Yes, thanks Jim, I saw the two cars and I'm hoping they share their installation details.

This is one reason it's hard to get a decent price when selling a modified car; one is buying not just the car but the (unknown) skill of the builder.

Still, look on the bright side, much of the work has been done and, most importantly, you've been able to drive the car and you know that you like it. I've known people spend years building a car only to discover they don't enjoy driving it...

Do the easy thing, throw one of those Triumph engines in the car.
