Trying to get something done with the interior on the HIllman. I'm starting to regret this whole orphan car thing. Anyway, I need a "fuzzy furflex" type push on u-trim for the door openings. Basically just like on an mob, just without the seal. Only purpose is as a trim for the opening. I can live with black, but navy blue would be the bee's knees! I haven't looked at Kip motors yet, I'm probably not willing to pay their prices anyway. Thanks if anyone can help.
Well, I guess it helps to know what you're looking for. I guess windlace is the proper term? Seems to be fairly available for mustangs, etc.
McMaster has lots of clip on edge trim available that should work. Not fuzzy though.
My old Jag Mk2 had a dark blue interior when I restored it many yeras ago - the blue furflex came from Aldredge Trimming in the UK

In Canada there is Martin J MacGregor Coachtrimming Ltd.in Dundas, Ontario that has been supplying British car trim for years (905-627-4006)...might give him a call.
Blue furflex door opening trim is definitely available out there somewhere.

Trim-lok (http://www.trimlok.com/) manufactures a very good range of edge trims (and seals)... but I don't think they offer fuzzy trim.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll hopefully find something with those leads. I looked at the Trim-lok site, but it looks like maybe they only sell in large quantities?

I've sewn my own for years.
Bought a 1964 White sewing machine (absolutely indestructible) at a flea market for $15.
Pick your material and the cord up from a sewing notions shop and you're good to go.
Most notions stores will even help out with instructions and advice. Or a full on course if you like.
The edge molding or door seal is available cheap from JC Whitney.
I've done everything from hemming jeans to a complete leather interior on my Maserati with that old machine.
It weighs a ton but the newer ones are too flexible and will just piss you off.
I get a fair bit of abuse when people find out that I sew.
But that changes when you show them what you've done!
Just don't tell Jim that I sew, cause I also have a milling machine and you know......

Fred - I'm cool with a man that sews! I also like to sew, and have done the seats and headliner in the Hillman. I really get a lot of satisfaction out of it. My wife bought me (as a surprise) a new "heavy duty" sewing machine a few years ago. It really doesn't work very well, but I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I try to make it work. I'd really like to spend a little for decent industrial machine with a real walking foot.
Try one out first. It might change your mind.
I have an industrial walking foot machine that I won't use unless I have to.
It's an angry machine that threatens to tear off limbs and maim small animals.
At some point I'll figure out how to slow it down. But for now I just use the old White.

No, you're right. I would definitely replace the clutch motor with a new servo motor on it that has a speed control dial. I think the newer machines have that anyway. If you want to slow yours down I think there's a reasonably priced servo motor setup available on ebay.
Kind of off topic but since a few others have come out of the closet, I sewed my B seats together with this about 20 yrs. ago.

I don't remember for sure now but I think someone gave this to me. I was a little worried if it would hold up or not but it punched through 4 layers of vinyl no problem. Really well built machine. I really like my White too, Fred.
I have about a 1945 model Singer industrial that echoes Fred's sentiment. Someday I plan to adapt the VFD equipped 90rpm gearmotor I have set aside for it and tame the beast, but for the near term I cautiously skirt the fringes of the mezzanine and sidle around it when I have to go up there. It's a scary machine.
