If anyone is going to Jim's this weekeend and could drive Roadmaster up, I would take you back home.
That would get it about half way to Omah.

Whichever is more convenient for you is fine with Jim and me. Charleston is probably a little closer to drive to, but flights out of Florence would probably be easier.

I picked up the Roadmaster from Max in Durham,NC and drove it 90 miles to Winston-Salem,NC used 4 gals gas and got plenty of thumbs up!!
Tomorrow we are attending a British car breakfast at Pennys restaurant in Jamestown, NC then south to Ashboro for a "Meet" at Higgins Farm.

4 gallons? In the MG Roadmaster?!
Carl yes 4.1 gals. I was surprised, tried to add more gas but it spilled out. . . .
It may have been just a little less than 90 miles but it was close. . . . Max filled the gas take before the exchange, and I filled it again to the point of splash back for a total of 4.1 gals. I was surprised as I expected 15-17 mpg. I was driving gently all interstate at 70 mph 1700 rpm. Maybe I could have squeezed more gas in but I had already spilled some trying to make sure it was topped off.
I plan to drive another 125 miles today, mostly back roads, and will fill the tank at the end of the day for another fuel consumption report. Last Aug. my mpg was 15 driving from TX to IL.
On another note:
The gas milage will not be as good as my wife's daily driver the white Prius in the background.
I had just thrown a bucket of water on road master to remove the tree pollen, car cleans up nicely despite a couple of paint flaws from stone chips and stress cracks on the front of the bonnet. I'll take a couple photos today.
Weather forecast is for heavy rain for next three days starting late tonight so I will be putting this beautiful car under cover and waiting for the storms to pass.

I'd brimmed the tank for PJ before he picked up, so the first fill is likely "optimistic". But his second fill should be telling. Hoping for 18mpg or so...
The engine is now only turning 1700 rpms to do 70 mph so there is reason for improved gas mileage. :-)
Hopefully PJ's journey north *this* time is far less eventful than his trip LAST time. :-)

Update 6 hours later
Trip was completed with no problems. I'm at the airport now should be home 12 hours after I departed. It was fun hosting RM this last week or so.

I think I speak for most of us when I say "Thanks again!" for helping get the Roadmaster where it needs to go! Your flexibility to travel has been a godsend...

Sorry I can't be there this year, some friends here in the UK asked if we could house sit for 3 weeks while they went off towing the caravan around France.
It was a mighty tough decision, but coupling a free flight with a free place to stay we just couldn't refuse a few weeks in England. My wife, Brenda, was born in London and has yet to show me all the sites to see in her country of birth. Tough choices sometime hang out with car guy friends or spend some time with my sweetie touring around England in a fuel efficient CEE'D made by KIA.
Gotta figure out and fix the backfire on start up. I still don't understand why we have the timing control box AND distributor advance. I think the best answer is either remove the timing box or use it and lock out the distributor advance AND get a timing retard box often called a "starter saver."
Rob....you have a PM over on the MGE regarding BADASS.
Pull the cap and rotor, couple drops of oil on the pads under the weights, and on the pivots, then check operation, bet it is hanging up.
