Definitely a case of "too much" not being enough. Healey Rick passed on that this beast is actually part of some European super-harvester built just for the show (Essen Auto Show, Germany). Bet that sucker really moves. I just couldn't resist when I saw it. And I thought it was pretty twisted when I saw drag car in the 70s sporting two V-8s. What a piker! Ill see you two 12s.
I remember back during the 70's when Tommy Ivo ran a dragster with 4 Buick Nail Heads.

Great post Paul! I'd forgotten all about Ivo's car. I remember seeing that car at the Pomona drags back in the day. I guess his 32 cylinders trumps the Jaguar's 24.
It's actually a Jaguar motor ... just not "that" Jaguar:

Thanks David. There is a website that shows how the drive system works and how the engines are connected, but I couldn't find it. I saw it at the old Green Valley drag strip and it would make the ground shake if you stood close to it. Ivo started with a twin nail head car before the 4 engine. If you notice, one engine is blown and the other is injected. Might have been the same car, but probably not. The 4 engine car never ran faster than about 180 but that was pretty respectable for the late 60's. In 1964 the studio told Ivo to stop racing so he quit making movies and doing TV instead. Nobody can say Ivo isn't just a little different!

I'm thinking Jim Blackwood may be planning another project after seeing Ivo's car...
I believe the first "Twin Bears", W configuration was built/campaigned by the Johansen family in 1957? (2) sbc's, one reversed end/end, with both output flanges and flywheel teeth/mating, on same end. Pretty innovative, in my veiw, for 57' ? IF I don't run out of time, two rv8's, in a "W" configuration, plopped in the bed of my 56' F100, is yet another goal. Cheers, roverman.
