Title: Lots of trick details... Ken Williamson's MGC GTS!
Post by: Moderator on October 17, 2012, 04:09:41 PM
Long time fans of BritishV8 and of the MG V-8 Newsletter which preceded may recall the name Ken Williamson. Ken submitted the fourth "How It Was Done" article we ever published. That was August 1994. We've published about 294 How It Was Done articles since. Ken has owned four other MGB V8's in those eighteen years. I hope to feature another one soon. In the meantime...

I'm pleased to announce that I've just uploaded a very detailed article about Ken's MG racecar.  It's an MGC GTS... so of course it has an inline six engine. It's worth your time to give this car a careful look though. Lots of interesting details. My favorite trick is that the firewall has been cut back into the cowl vent plenum to facilitate shifting the engine rearward fully six inches. (Why didn't I think of that!) This is also the first MGB/MGC I've ever seen with fiberglass doors. I like the way the Ken's window regulators work.

Have a look.

Cool! That Jamar brake unit that is pictured, would that not be a parking brake? It does state prop valve but my trike has the same style unit that you pump the brakes, push in the knob and release the pedal holding pressure to the rear calipers till you pump the brake to release them.

When I first saw the gts in 1968 I was 25 years old....I thought at that time it was the most stunning car I had ever seen..especially the front and rear views......I still feel that way today...hence my britv8 identifier! Great article Curtis...

Thanks Phil, the MALONEYOUS ASSAULT idea was suggested to me over a decade ago by a colleague...I finally got around to getting some of these decals made for my cars by a local car friend. Spelling wise, it does not quite match up with FELONIOUS ASSAULT, but phonetically it rolls right off the tongue :-)
